Excellent location for easy walk into Cooktown Centre and surrounds. The room was very comfortable, albeit a little dated in decor, but very clean with a simple, functional kitchen and big fridge. Bed was comfortable and bathroom clean and roomy. Doors opening onto the front and back of the room provide a great cooling atmosphere with outdoor seating for drinks etc near the pool. Lovely plants and trees outside the poolside door provided privacy and shade. Owner/manager was very friendly and obliging during our stay.

What a gem of a place! Absolute magic! Tranquil, relaxed and friendly atmosphere with beautiful lush tropical style gardens. Quiet and peaceful but with shops close by. Good parking, lovely pool and bbq area and just a beautiful place to stay. My mate and i had an overnight stay on our way up to Cape York and enjoyed it so much that we decided on a 4 night stay on the return leg of the journey. We initially stayed in a fully equipped motel style unit with kitchen/cooking facilities and couldn't have been happier. On our second stay we were unable to return to the same room but were instead upgraded to a spacious fully self contained flat which even had its own private garden and far exceeded our expectations. Both rooms were very clean, well lit, well equipped and extremely good value for money. Our hosts Peter and Sayah couldn't have been more friendly, courteous and obliging. We felt like we'd known them for years. Just honest, hardworking, beautiful people that we feel fortunate to have met during our extensive travels around Oz. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending a stay at Alamanda Inn to anyone staying in Cooktown and will certainly be back should we be fortunate enough to find ourselves up that way again. ||||Keep up the great work Peter and Sayah. ||||- Paul and Des.

Took a chance after reading some reviews on Trip Advisor that seemed quite positive, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Located in a nice quiet area of town, with the rooms well away from the street, so you'll get a good night sleep. The room was fully self contained - everything you need from plates & cutlery to toaster & microwave, extra pillows, iron & ironing board, TV & so on. More than I was expecting actually. Both the room & the bathroom were very clean & comfortable. Parking is directly outside the back door, whilst the pool was outside the front door. A table & chairs in the front semi enclosed patio looking over a nice garden area to the pool were a nice relaxing spot for a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine or beer in the evening after dinner. There is a selection of brochures & maps & other information in the front reception area. Ask Sayah for any advice or some suggestions, she knows the area well & she will provide you with a good map of Cooktown when you check in & show you where things are in relation to the hotel. I stayed for 4 nights and will definitely be staying again next time I'm in Cooktown - hopefully sooner rather than later. Excellent value for money & a very pleasant experience 🙂

I only picked 'average' because Trip Advisor doesn't offer 'Good' or 'Nice'. I stayed at this nice little bare-essentials hotel for four nights, and had a great time. There's a great pool, and the rest of (very) scenic Cooktown is just a 15-minute walk away. There's no restaurant, but the local IGA grocery store is just 8 minutes away - and there are all those places in town to eat. My very clean room at the end of the wing had an ensuite, a great fridge & TV, windows on three sides, a cool night breeze, and quiet neighbors. What more could a guy ask for a long weekend? I really enjoyed my stay.

Well cyclones do have a habit of disrupting the smooth run of things...but happy to say we've just returned from a two week stay at the Alamanda Inn in Cooktown and everything is back to normal. ||||We've lost count of the number of times we've returned to stay with our hosts Peter and Sayah Scott, but it's always the same. A hearty warm welcome, a comfortable stay and a happy farewell.||||They have five self contained studio rooms with verandas front and back, all clean and well equipped for home living. All looking onto a tropical garden with a smashing pool and bbq area where you can watch your children from your veranda. There's another self contained flat, set in a jewel of a garden, a little separate from the others. The rooms are spacious and well lit, parking is easy, shops are in walking distance, it's away from any noisy traffic, but most of all your hosts, Peter and Sayah Scott dish out the kind of hospitality you might expect from personal friends.||||Go there!||||John Clare & Charlie MacDonald

We stay here quite often. Nothing is too much trouble for Sayah and Peter, who treat each guest like a personal friend, with many of them as return customers (so a few of them told me). Close to town with loads of parking areas near the rooms. Love the self contained flat unit where we usually stay, however the motel rooms are near the swimming pool and BBQ area. It was nice to be able to have family and friends visit us when we were there without being hassled by the management like in other places we have been to.

Relaxed resort feel motel in an elevated, quiet location a short walk to the main street of town. Lovely gardens and friendly, helpful staff. Large rooms with well-equipped kitchenette. Good value for money. Would definitely stay here again.

Facilities are basic but the staff is very friendly and the place has a homely feel about it. Well priced and located not far from the town centre. Not 5 star by any means but clean and tidy. I would stay again. Marcus
