The hotel sits on top floor of the bar. The room is big with a good view of the street. However there is no air-con, only a fan. The kitchen is not well-maintained, the microwave was dirty and the common fridge is very small. On the positive side, the bathroom is huge with good hot water system. Overall, an ok place for 1 night stay if you want to explore Newcastle because it is reasonably affordable, but I would not stay for a longer time in this hotel.

The rooms we booked were very disgusting. The photos and the rooms are miles apart! The room was stinky and the bathroom was horrible and gross sickening. There were hairs still on one of the bed.

The showers and toilets were horrible and not up to a motel standard for sure.

Stay away from this place.

Booked a Standard Twin Room. It was a generously-sized and clean room with two queen beds, a ceiling fan, a standing fan, and a TV. We didn't bother with the blinds but they gave us towels and the bathroom was clean and had body wash and shampoo. Reception was also really nice and punctual. Would stay again!

Only feedback would be that a powerboard would've been nice, but we really weren't fussy about that.

I stayed alone, female middle aged.
Is the room clean and well presented? YES. The mattress is comfy with fluffy white pillows. TV works. Kitchen at the end of the hall for kettle & microwave.
What about the shared bathroom?
YES - clean, and do be patient with the hot water, once it comes through it's delightfully hot.
Should you book here if you are picky?
NO, definitely not. Theres no car park, the staircase isn't well lit, the globe is missing from my bedside lamp, the blind doesn't close and I can't find the remote control for the ceiling fan. It looks fine but this is an old building. It's not renovated and the room price is cheap bcos you are staying above a pub.
Would I stay here again?
YES, management are great and quickly dealt with a rowdy guest. I got used to the quirks after 1 night, and again it's neat and CLEAN.

Bought a meal and it was good until I pulled a piece of glass out of my mouth. I was offered a refund but feel that quality control needs to be addressed. Don't think ill be back

Stayed two nights here, and got off to a great start when the staff member ACTUALLY copied down the ccv number from the back of my card once she had photocopies it?! The room was already paid in full!!
Upstairs houses the rooms as is pretty standard but majority of them are shared bathroom and kitchen rooms.. ours was.

Men walking the halls barely dressed, grumpy grumbly old duds who whether intentionally or not did successfully unerve the women present

I'd have left after one night but was unable to find vacancies anywhere close.

This place is a last option

Ceiling fan didn't work and if you could sleep through the music and moaning from other rooms well done.The staff friendly and nice,had the steak sandwich for dinner which was average.More than likely would only stay there again if absolutely necessary.

Me and my partner stayed last night in the rooms, we were in a room that had a shared balcony with 3 other rooms, which was no issue as we are not smokers, what was an issue is the door leading out to the balcony is half see through glass and did not have a curtain or anything to provide privacy so had to hang a towel up, there was only a shared bathroom so i chose to shower with my partner in the mens shower, as i thought it would be more appropriate for a female to be with there partner in a mens bathroom then females seeing a male in there bathroom, as I felt uncomfortable showering alone as I witnessed a older man walking the hallway in his underwear. The television in the room had no remote, when I called for one to be brought up we were given a different brand TV remote which did not work, so there for we had no TV to watch.. also the fridge in the shared kitchen was very un clean, the kitchen was the same, there was no mugs, small milks, cutlery provided, microwave was disgusting, and the fridge kept getting unplugged, I also found the girl behind the bar to be very rude and have a negative attitude about anything that I brought to her attention, even getting booked in she was quiet rude, me and my partner will not be stating there again.
