Nice setup and great idea and also got a bottle of wine. But for the price they are charging the place really could use a good clean. The tent smelled musty and there was mould on the projector screen also the smell of the bathroom was unbearable. I understand compost toilets don’t smell like daisies but wow. Also the outdoor spa had been drained and weren’t able to use. Not sure I would stay again at those prices and the level of cleanliness

We stayed in the chalet after a wonderful walk at Lamington National Park|The chalet is only a short 15 mins drive away. |The chalet was very clean and comfortable with spectacular views from the veranda |Our host was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.|The birds in the aviaries on site were lovely to look at as were the peacocks wandering around.|We were also surprised to find a home cooked pasta dinner in the fridge on arrival.|We are looking forward to returning.

The only star is for the host himself. Wilson was a great person to have a chat with but the place is not worth the money at all. The 'hut' is not at all maintained. There are cobwebs and stains everywhere you look. The bed frame creaks and the blankets and sheets smell really bad.
The bathroom stinks because its a compostable bathroom. The towels were not fresh either.
The view from the room window is blocked by the overgrown trees and to enjoy the view, you'd have to go to the bathroom or stand on the road. Overall, not recommended.

Pretty location but photos need to be updated. Really needs a good clean up garden & facilities wise. No signage for where reception/office is located so just sit up at the entrance & call first like we did. The safari tent was very hit & miss. The bathroom (especially the compost toilet smell) was horrible, if I knew it was a drop one I might have booked a different setting. The "fresh" towels all smelt of urine & we had to clean the kitchenware before we could use it. The tent had mould, spider webs & dust everywhere (but being an outdoor setting I can understand to a degree). The rooster at 4am wasn't ideal but the bed was comfortable & having a hot bath at while overlooking the sunrise was relaxing. This place has so much potential.

Wow! Our hosts made us feel so welcome. We arrived to a bottle of red wine and a very yummy home cooked meal. The views are to die for. We stayed in the safari tent and it was so romantic. After getting to know our hosts, and meeting their feathered friends, they explained that they rescue animals (mostly birds) that have been neglected and been through trauma. They have loving hearts.
Our tent was secluded and very private. Spent a lovely evening by the outside fire. Yes there are a few webs and insects, but you need to expect that being in a rainforest. If you’re a bit precious, book the Versace.
I can’t wait to come back. Nothing is a problem for our hosts and did everything they could to make our getaway a memorable one. What a lovely experience. 5 stars absolutely!

Absolutely beautiful views! I had my eye on this place for quite some time, not sure why I didn't go sooner! Very lovely decorated tent, I stayed in the big tent they have. His wife was so nice to cook me dinner, and the owner was very accommodating and kind.

If you're thinking of staying here, I highly recommend it!

We had a lovely stay at Old Saint Johns Church early January. It's very different and quaint. We were welcomed with a lovely meal and a bottle of wine. Great location, lovely view and love the peacocks. 3 stars because the towels were a little musty, no problem as we brought our own anyway and the water coming out of the taps was yellowy brown! Freaked my kids out a bit. My husband forgot to mention this at checkout as we were in a bit of a rush. We had our own drinking water with us. I'm assuming the water was like that because their water is collected at the back of the accommodation in a rain tank. The place could also do with a deep clean. Nice stay overall.
