Nice enough room in good location. We left wash out fake out on a sheet and a few dog hairs fell off our clothes onto the bathroom floor so they charged us a $250 cleaning fee which seemed outrageous. Money was removed from my account before we even got a chance to dispute and the photos we finally got showed around 10 dog hairs and some long human head hairs. Cleaners were smoking while cleaning rooms which seemed fairly hypocritical.

Great motel, I have stayed here before so I was keen to stay for another 2 nights over my birthday.
Bed was so comfy, Foxtel and a good TV, shower was weird in my room, not sure if I had the disabled room or what but the shower doors donโ€™t meet up properly so let a lot of water out to the carpet.

Unfortunately one of the reasons I wanted to come back to this motel was the Hot chicken place across the road, donโ€™t its gone down hill and the chicken was terrible.
Good news is there is plenty of other cafes to choose from.
I also walked down to the Foodlands to buy a few items like breakfast etc..
So this motel is in a great position for many food options.

I and family members recently stayed at this motel. The reception was top notch, friendly, helpful. The rooms spacious clean and providing all you would want for a short stay, and something many places don't have, a microwave, toaster available. Loved it.

My partner and friends stayed in the Avoca cottage.

I've given the cottage a 3/5, due to the kitchen floor being sticky upon arrival. Other issues included, dead insects in one of the bedroom, a broken bottom drawer in the bedroom my partner and I stayed in, bouncing floor boards, and no hot water on the final day of our stay. Really!!!.

We payed $345.00 per night for a sub-standard cottage. If I ever visit Broken Hill again, we will not stay at the Charles Rasp hotel. When we chatted to the reception about no hot water on our last day, they replied by saying "what about all the extra towels we got you".

It is not a place I would recommend to stay at, as it is over-priced for what you get. Look around at other options.

10th September 2024
Our vacation in Broken Hill was amazing.
It was for five days over the Broken Heel Festival.
I stayed at the Avoca cottage with three of my friends.
The cottage was described as 3 bedrooms and one bathroom.
I believe it was a 3 Star Cottage.
However, there were some concerns that I have about paying $345 per night for 5 days. I believe that to be "top dollar" for the Broken Heel Festival.
The things that were sub-par were
1. Dead graashopper in one of the beds.
2. Cricket in the lamp in one bedroom. That lamp did not work at all.
3. Broken drawer in another bedroom.
4. Shelf in one bedroom missing a shelf stay causing shelf to fall when anything put on it.
5. Hot water did not work on final morning.
Cob website all over the front of the cottage ( Perhaps the cleaning staff could clean them off before guests arrive.
6. Floor in kitchen/ dine room eas sticky .
Maybe a different floor cleaner should be used.
7. Doggy door flap needs repair as it is a health and safety risk.
8. Tiles in back door step need repair.( OH&S CONCERN!.
9. Wheely bins need to be emptied before paying guests arrive.
10. No In- cottage compendium and / or information guide provided for guests.
Reception staff.
On day one the young lady was very helpful by giving us two keys for each couple in the two different rooms of the Avoca cottage.
The next time I visited Reception I was not greeted with such hospitality.
When I asked for two extra towels and two extra toilet rolls there was a frowning woman saying that the linen was being washed and maybe they could give us some.
I left with one roll of toilet paper.
To their credit, that afternoon we did get the 3xtra towels.
On the last day we had no hot water.
I went to the office to return the keys and I spoke to the Reception lady who was same lady as the day before.
I explained about the hot water and she told me that she would "look into it".
She gave me the impression by her attitude that I was just thinking and after explaining about the above complaints she indicated to me that I should just leave.
It was then that a cleaner poked her head around the corner and started to indicate to me that I was complaining about nothing and that I should just "get out".
I said to the cleaner that I did not appreciate her comments as I was talking to the receptionist and it was a private conversation between her and myself.
Once again they banded together and told me to leave.
I did leave and as I was going out the door I discovered that the receptionist was gossiping about me to the cleaner.
So I went back inside to request that she only speak to the manager about my concerns and not to anyone else as it was a private and confidential discussion
I am nor content with the service and I suggest that any further paying guests be cautious in this particular property to stay in for a complete holiday.

We booked the 2 brm family suite and I have to say, it was not in our top 10. Little things spoiled our stay. Power points in brm 2 were on the opposite wall from the bed heads and there were no bedside tables or lamps which made it difficult to traverse in the night to the bathroom, charge mobile phones, ipads, etc. These are necessary in 2024.|To enter the suite, 3 doors open up on each other, therefore to enter, you have to then close that door to open the cupboard/beverage making bar and then you have to close that door in order to open the bathroom. |Once you get into the bathroom, there is no shower door - no curtain, no nothing. Consequently, the bathroom floor is awash!!
