We stayed at Cavenagh Lodge B & B at the beginning and end of a self drive trip around the outback before flying back to Sydney to join a cruise. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer as Cavenagh Lodge was lovely and there is a lot more we could have done in and around Alice Springs.||||Cavenagh Lodge is literally on the edge of town and has lovely views out over the bush which was just what we wanted. It is just a few minutes drive into the centre of town.|| ||Starting with our correspondence at the time of booking Shona made us feel that we would be very welcome and provided useful advice on our proposed travels around the Centre. When we arrived early afternoon Shona made us feel immediately at home and Scotty kindly gave us a lift into town as were not picking hire car up until the following day.||||The guest accommodation is on the ground floor and includes a well appointed kitchen and comfortable lounge which leads out to the pool. We stayed in the Namajira Room with its own ensuite which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Being away from the centre of town Cavenagh Lodge is very peaceful and quiet and we slept very well.||||We look forward to returning for a longer stay.||||Keith & Ann

I have been comfortably settled in the lovely Namitjera Room here for six weeks now, while waiting for my house purchase to go through, and my family to join me. This is the perfect place to enjoy and get to know the real Alice Springs: not far from town, yet backing onto natural wilderness. The facilities are great, and Shona and Scotty are experienced, friendly hosts, as well as great sources of local information. Respectful of privacy, they will do anything they can to help make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. I have particularly loved the pristine pool each day, and visits from curious lizards and other native birds and animals.

I needed accomodation right away after arrival in Alice and was recommended to Cavanagh Lodge. Hosts Shona and Scott were really friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my whole stay in spacious and comfortable accomodation, and I was able to see Alice Springs and surroundings. ||Now I want to stay there again!

I cannot speak highly enough of this accommodation.||||Shona and Scotty meet you personally when you check in, and show you around their B&B which has been in their family for decades. Rooms are beautifully clean and maintained. It really is a home away from home. Scott and Shona place an emphasis on privacy. They show you the BBQ area, the home, kitchen, living room (with an amazing library of VHS videos), pool, etc. Then they leave you to it - free to make yourself at home. There's access to wifi, breakfast, a laundry and hills hoyst for free... the view of the McDonnell ranges is superb..and kangaroos come to feed at your doorstep.||||Shona and Scotty are long time Alice Springs locals, and will extend themselves to do anything to help you. I had trouble with the VCR as I couldn't figure out the wiring....Scotty fixed it. I couldn't get a cab into town, Scotty offered to drive me. I needed an esky to take to Uluru, Shona lent me one. I had a six hour drive from Alice Springs...Shona and Scotty prepared the Dutch Tub (spa type bath) under the stars for me as they knew I'd be tired. They go the extra mile to make sure everyone is comfortable and happy, plus they are absolutely lovely people keen to share their home with weary travellers who need a place to rest their head. It's a five minute cab ride into town...so if you want to escape some of the business or roughness of the main city, do yourselves a favour and book in to Cavanaugh Lodge - it will show you a bit of the 'real' Alice Springs and the beautiful country this little gem of a town sits on.||||Take Shona and Scotty up on their offer of the Dutch Tub. Nothing more wonderful than soaking the day away under the stars in the cool air, in a hot tub, with a glass of red listening to the wilderness and staring up at the darkness.

I love Cavenagh Lodge B&B, having stayed here several times - once for 7 weeks! The location is delightful, right on the edge of town so you can walk out the door and into the bush. Morning walks are a delight - birds and kangaroos - and the Telegraph Station is an easy distance. And yet its possible to walk into the town centre too.||||Cavenagh Lodge B&B is not your usual B&B with frills and fancies. Its a family home, comfortable and reasonably well-appointed, comfortable beds and so quiet. Even a pool. ||||Shona and Scottie are great hosts too.

Cavenagh lodge is a home away from home. ||We stayed for 10 nights as my partner was racing in the finke desert race. Upon arrival they made us feel welcome and Shona showed us around the b & b. They went that extra mile and made sure we had everything we needed. Not many people let alone somewhere you're staying would put up with motor bikes, trailers, tools and everything else scatted over the place. Such a peaceful place to sit an watch the sun set, you'd never guess that town was so close by. Can't thank Shona and Scotty enough.

We have stayed there four years running for 2 mths + at a time. It is old Alice Springs morphing into a wonderful nature reserve. Replete with kangaroos and dingos. Easy access to bush walking and bike tracks. Good bird watching. Shona and Scotty are very accommodating hosts||||||||.
