I've been to many events at the Cavanbah Centre and find that it's in a convenient location and suits many different purposes from Meeting events to Dance classes and much more. Meet James Cockayne Anti-Slavery Commissioner who came to Coffs Harbour recently to talk about Modern Day Slavery and how that takes many forms around us and some sadly very sinister.
Did you know that so many forms of Modern Day Slavery are happening especially in the Work Place, Education, Our Justice System, so many different types of Modern Day Slavery that needs Policing and it could even be you that has a story. Berry Industry is the biggest Slavery on the Coffs Coast. When Blueberries are $4 the picker standing on a steep slope in the scorching heat is lucky to see 10 cents from that punnet.

FEBRUARY 2022. . . . Very Disappointed with the performance of the Floor for Dancing. . . the last Saturday Night and Monday Night the floor was disgusting. i know the floor/hall is multi use for the community but if there are users that dirty the floor during their activities than maintenance needs to be such that the floor is returned to a clean condition. The floor performs poorly when it is clean but is much worse when it is dirty. We are also aware of the importance of care of duty and fit for purpose. It is easy to see the dangers having a slippery floor but also there is a duty of care to provide a floor that does not impact damage to dancers ankles, knees and hips etc., from a floor that is too sticky.

APRIL 2021. . . No Dancing for a year, Covid lock down. . . should have been a good time to do maintenance on the floor. . . We are back dancing and the floor is as bad if not worse. . . So sad to see such little respect shown to our Senior Citizens.

MAY 2019. . . Poor floor performance for Dancing. Coff's Seniors deserve better than this. Over the last 10 years the floor has had periods when it has been good but far too often and especially recently the floor is bad. Dancing is well known for its benefits and Seniors enjoy dancing for hours at a time but not when it causes sore knees and hips. I have often had to leave early as i am unable to dance on such a poor floor. Some changes in maintenance procedures is needed to compensate for the poorly designed/built building.

Cavanbah centre last night, had a great dance, full of beautiful people and great atmosphere. Entertainment with Barry Noble and Kerrie Pike, always a pleasure to listen and dance to. Excellent!
