A Hidden Gem in Blackburn South – CatchUp Place

I had the pleasure of dining at CatchUp Place, a cosy Malaysian restaurant tucked away in Blackburn South, and I must say, it truly exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home.

What stood out the most was the exceptional service. The staff were incredibly attentive and genuinely caring, treating each customer with kindness and respect. I was especially touched by the way they looked after their elderly and disadvantaged patrons — a rare and heartwarming sight that deserves high praise. Hats off to the team!

As for the food, it was nothing short of outstanding. Every dish had that authentic, homely Malaysian flavour that brought back memories of street-side eateries in KL. We tried the Nasi Lemak with chicken, soft boiled eggs with kaya toast, and my personal favourite, chicken rice — each one was delicious, comforting, and packed with flavour.

Of course, no visit to a Malaysian restaurant is complete for me without a cup of Teh Tarik, and I’m happy to report that it didn’t disappoint. Creamy, frothy, and just the right amount of sweet – the perfect end to a wonderful meal.

This little gem has definitely won a spot on my list of go-to places. If you’re after genuine Malaysian hospitality and flavour, CatchUp Place is a must-visit. I’ll be back again soon!

Now a great little Malaysian place, very happy to have it open up! Service is always fantastic, a big shout out to the chef and the friendly wait staff! The service is really great here and has kept me coming back. I have been many times now and ive been very satisfied with the meals, the batter they used on the calamari and soft shell crab was so fresh and delicious, the chicken is perfectly cooked and they have a great selection of malaysian deserts as well as milkshakes and coffees. Can't wait to go back to try more of the dishes!They have a selection of beers and soft drinks including A&W root beer. Indoor and outdoor areas are provided and there is plenty of street parking in the area.

This is a Malaysian - western fusion restaurant / cafe located in Blackburn south . The restaurant has some transition Malaysian food , coffee and bakery. The place was clean and comfortable. The shop owner was very nice too.

I tried different type of Malaysian food including Nasi Lemak, curry laska and dessert too.

The chicken Nasi Lemak was good. Portion was great . The pork one was tasty too .

Seafood curry laska was plenty of ingradients. Curry taste was nice .

The ice Kacang was freshly made and it looks beautiful .

There is a very large back yard with tables to serve customer. Recommend to sit there for good weather . Their staff were all very nice . Recently they start serving dinner during Thursday to Sunday . A very good try and will come again .

New kid on the block for Singapore, Malaysian favourite foods, like Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Nasi Lemak. We had the Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Ice Kachang, curry puffs. All were very good and generous helpings. Nasi Lemak rice was fragrant, chicken was crispy, tender, juicy and flavourful with crunchy anchovies while sambal was spot on in being not too sweet though can be a little more spicy. Malaysian laksa had rich gravy with large prawns, scallops and mussels, good value for the price. Enjoyed the potato and smashed pea curry puffs which were tasty encased in a nice crumply pastry. Service and hospitality from owner and chef Michael and team member Tian was fantastic. They also serve breakfast from 8 am and offer Malaysian breakfast food like roti canai, soft boiled eggs and Nasi Lemak bungus. Western breakfast items like eggs Benedict, smashed avocado and chicken waffles are also available. Will definitely be back to try their breakfast soon.

I had the chicken rice. My chicken rice is not tasty at all. Rice itself has bland taste like eating jasmine rice as you can see i was served chicken with black colour meat. Chicken has no punchy flavour, need to improve!
Also they dont give soup for hainanese chicken rice, seriously?
Waiting for the food is exceptionally long today
However, they are friendly.

A delightful Malaysian cafe which serves a good range of cuisine. We came on a Sunday for early lunch. The curry laksa was delicious and full of authentic rich flavours.
The nasi lemak chicken is very generously portioned. You won't leave hungry that's for sure.
Definitely a place to return to time and again.
The seating area indoors is quite narrow but extends to a spacious outdoor dining area.
Friendly chef and staff.
Quick turnover of customers.
They serve food coffee as well. The glasses are huge.

Only dine there a few times so far. I would have their Nasi Lemak Bungkus and Teh Tarik every morning if I could. Fresh, tasty, crunchy Nasi Lamak Bungkus better than many in Malaysia according to my visiting relatives from Malaysia. That's confidence. Teh Tarik was so hot, awesome for this cold winter. Service is really good too. Well done and we will be dining there again soon!

This cafe serves both Asian cuisines as well as the usual cafe items. Tried their Nasi Lemak bungkus (packet) and it was satisfying. The rice is particularly fragrant. While the sambal does not hit you at first bite but the flavour grows on you as you savor it slowly. The coffee could be stronger and thicker. The curry laksa has its own unique spice-blend. The best part about the restaurant is the friendly service. It also has an outdoor dining area with a recently added shade-sail.
