We stayed in a Rainforest room which was a separate older building. Left tired and a bit unloved, I thought it definitely deserved a freshen up and updated. Damaged doors, rusty taps, microwave and fridge. Bed was comfy and nicely made. Room outlook was lovely, but upon closer inspection you see the age. Reception refused to upgrade at the online price, only at the hotel current price to over 300 pn

Fantastic place. A bit dated but that doesn’t matter. You can use the facilities of Castaways Resort hotel. Very reasonable prices

Rooms in secondary building a bit old but comfortable. Good restaurant at the main building and plenty of choices around town. Lovely location, we saw a cassowary and his chick on the road out of town. The view from our room on a wet morning.

We stayed in the older section (ground floor). It was a good size , modern shower and toilet. Good parking at rear to our door . Walking distance to shops, cafes and bars. Just needed to pick up the key from the newer Resort across the road first .(that was done very quickly by the very helpful and friendly Receptionist . Can definitely recommend this place. We would certainly stay here again.

Hotel style room with patio overlooking rainforest garden and pool. Very comfortable. Reception staff were very nice.
Booked for 3 but there were only 2 bowls for cereal and zero spoons. (inc teaspoons)
Bathroom could do with a modernization refresh but good water pressure in shower. Also, you need to be about 5 foot tall to get under it.

Our room was not ready until 2.30 pm
because of "covid cleaning" my assumption was you get the cleaning done BEFORE 2 pm. If you
can't, then state check-in is 2.30 pm.
The TV remote barely worked- after an hour we got the channels on but the reception was terrible.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the pillows felt old and separated.
Cockroaches in the bathroom and stained towels.

We traveled along way with no sleep, couldn’t wait to check in, rooms weren’t ready for the 2pm check in. When we did check in I went straight to bed for a much needed sleep, it was so noisy by the restaurant down below, doors slamming and also one guest knocked on my door accidentally, so that made it impossible to sleep. We booked in for the early dinner service and was down there by 5.45pm so nice and early as we were very hungry, our child had to wait till 8pm for their kids meal, and we waited for our main ones till 8pm as well, it cost us a fortune as we had to keep buying drinks to pass the time. Then the morning we got woken up by the cleaning staff next door, they start early there to clean !!! ||Also not to mention the day spa was closed so no massage or anything, our whole experience was nothing but disappointment!!! So we packed up after one night to go to another motel to sleep !!! ||We will not be going back, also talked to another guest checking out and they had no sleep either cause of the noise around the place !! ||Over priced as well !! Nothing to even hear food up in your room !

This place feels like an abandoned motel!

Unfortunately they do not properly disclose that there are two separate hotel properties, the 4 star ocean front resort and the old beat up motel-like building down the road. We were very disappointed to arrive at the check-in of this beautiful resort only to be told to keep our bags in the car, drive around the corner and park on the front lawn of what looks like a run-down abandoned motel. Unfortunately they were sold out at the resort and we were forced into a one night stay at the beat up motel. Though they give access to the amenities of the resort (5 min walk), it’s quite depressing to go back to the slums at the end of the day.

When we arrived at the “rainforest” building, we found the old reception closed off with a “private” sign, we spent a good 5 min trying to squeeze between cars on the dirt/grass lawn with no lighting. When entering the room the smell of must was overwhelming and we quickly discovered a bad ant infestation (huge ants) throughout the bathroom. The swimming pool onsite looked more of an old pond and I seriously question its cleanliness. The staff have no presence on this property other than sending over cleaners at the end of the stay. It was truly an awful experience.

They need to separate these two properties as one will inevitably drag down the other. It would take a lot to renovate this building and bring it to par with the resort and even so, the location is too far and too different to try to slap on a fun name and pretend it’s something else (there is no nature or “rainforest” of any kind around this building.
