Very impressed with this hotel. Amazing location right next to the beach, beautiful restaurant area with pool. Beachfront rooms were nice and clean. The biggest asset to the hotel were the staff. I visited during the beginning of the severe Queensland flooding and the help from the staff, particularly Belen and Adriano, was second to none- so kind and professional. They really saved the day! Castaways is such a gem, worth returning again and again. We loved our stay - even during bucketing monsoonal rain, a swim the pool overlooking the beach is so atmospheric. The staff made the best of the weather and looked after us when my sister was unwell. The rainforest rooms out the back are excellent value with use of the pool and facilities, and thank you for the locals specials. It's always a great holiday in this patch of paradise thank you!

I’ve stayed here before and was astonished at the restaurant and general building upgrades. It’s amazing. See images. Very quiet this time of year but it’s seriously stunning. The staff were friendly and the location is always amazing. My wife had a massage and loved it. There’s a 25m lap pool on the beachfront…incredible really.

The view from the rooms is amazing an incredibly close to the beach. There are two pools. The team were generally very friendly. The menu in the restaurant is great for two nights but is a little limited if you are staying longer. The rooms are a little dated ad could do with a little investment. That said, I would definitely recommend staying there. The hotel is lovely and the beach is beautiful and worth waking up early to watch the sun rise.

The location is amazing, it's Mission Beach basically on the beach. The restaurant staff are pleasant, but the ordering website is horrendously slow, and delivery even slower. 25 minutes for two cans of coke whilst we were the only people there, is very poor. Rooms are unchanged, very serviceable but needing a little T&C. Will I go again, yes only because of the location.

Beautiful location, premises and rooms. Front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. |Restaurant food was lovely but their fine dining prices spoilt with the need to order yourself at the bar. It's not a pub so bring back table service and act like a 5 star venue please. Their wine list was also disappointingly. So easy in Australia to have an amazing wine list. |However we will be back but will have to bring our own wine.

We were alarmed by the reviews and almost cancelled and very pleased we didn't. We had a rainforest room - clean and quiet. We used the main hotel facilities, food good, pool area was lovely too. Right on beach and lovely walks and walk into main shops easy.

Myself, husband and friends came to celebrate New Year’s Eve with dinner on the beach. Although it was a three course set menu, the choices were varied and the price reasonable. The food itself was delicious and the location couldn’t have been more perfect!
The only negatives were some initial confusion when making the booking and I didn’t see this event advertised anywhere, not even on the website, so consider promoting it more widely next year.
