The staff didn't have customer service at a 4 start worthy level... Food was definitely a high standard. This places is a half way house between a "night club" (at 8pm) and a "drinks bar" when it comes to table service. Note: drunk, early 20's clientele populating the area while we were there for dinner didn't help at all. The place needs to pick a niche...

5 people enjoyed dinner ,drinks at the new Church Street Hotel. Refurbished, renamed.
Great to see some different items on menu.
A little noisy was the only thing against it but it was Saturday.
Plenty of staff on hand.
Would go again definitely. Give it a try.

Mixed review for new and former owners:

4stars for the former owners
(prior to September 2018)

Worth it for the steak. If you pretend you're somewhere else (ignore the outdated furniture, colour schemes and dreary kitsch decor) and purely focus on the very well priced local wine (skip the pepperjack, people and go for Campbell's Durif!!) and attend on a Tuesday steak night, it's never disappointing. Stone Grill is fabulous. In a town where it's hard to receive a properly prepared rare steak, this place was fabulous as they cant very well serve you a poor quality piece of meat, as you're presented with the raw cut with the grill - ergo great quality meat without the chef stuffing up or concealing poor quality produce.
An unassuming place with a pleasant surprise.

For the new owners:

I won't be attending as you ceased the stone grill service. It was the only reason I'd cross the border and go go to a pub for.
Contact me if you have a dazzling menu, unique feature that sets you apart from every other pub in town.

We ate as a group of 15 + ..
There was a lot of staff on....
Some of the deep fried meals were over cooked. .
I ordered a thai beef salad.. this was good...
But we couldn't get a coffee with dessert..
I would have been more proactive and sent a staff member out to buy the coffees!!!!. Over all I might give them another chance....

This is no longer the carrier's arms, but in fact the church St hotel.
New paint and decor, looks a bit sterile for my liking, and very loud - I suggest the installation of some sound deadening. Didn't end up eating here as it was so noisy.
The bar is tucked way down one end and there isn't really much to look at. The table layout seems odd. A mix of high tables with bar stools, long tables with chairs and booths and a bunch of outdoor tables.
Had to wait to be seated, had a reservation but wasn't asked for any preference and outside didn't seem to be an option, despite it being a very nice late summer evening!!
Three of us were expecting to sit down for dinner, but were seated on a high table with stools, not very comfy for dinner.
We ended up leaving to go elsewhere to eat, so can't comment on the food.

Laska was yuck not hot and had weird sweet taste no chilly that I could make out. The seafood in it was good. Would have been better if hot and different sauce. The new Reno is beautiful but was dissapointed with my meal. I will go back and try something else next time.

Arrived pretty early for dinner.
Looonnng wait, well over an hour.
Was really hopeful that the food would be good when it finally came..
Nasi Goreng was like mush - flavorless.
Laksa was just weird.
Pizza was burnt underneath and soggy in the middle.
It's a shame because visually the venue looks great. The food definately leaves a lot to be desired.
