Great location and price. Be prepared for simple, clean and tidy. The rooms don't have air con and it's a shared bathroom. We were fine with this so the accommodation was perfect budget accommodation to stay in Sydney, close to Stanmore Station, to get in and out of the city to celebrate my child's birthday.

I believe cheap and cheerful is the expression. I'm visiting the big smoke to play a poker tournament, so I just need a place nearby to rest my head. I found it on Booking.com. Due to the exceptionally low price, I kept my expectations very low. I was not disappointed, in fact I was quite pleasantly surprised! I was warmly greeted by Cathy at reception, who is the greatest asset to the establishment. I cannot sing her praises highly enough. After the first evening in a shared room, I was fortunate enough to be offered a free upgrade to a private room. I was very grateful of this. There is also laundry and kitchen facilities. There is a pleasant smoking terrace and BBQ area. Whilst there are a few basic and minor maintenance issues, which I'm sure will be addressed once the silly season is over, the place is clean and tidy and comfortable.
It has suited my needs perfectly and would recommend it to anyone on a budget who needs a place to rest their head in the big smoke.

Simple rooms, shared kitchen space and shared bathrooms. Quick walk from the enmore theatre which is what we were visiting for so it was a great location! Pretty easy to get to from the airport via cbd on the train! Would stay again!

My in-laws stayed here and found 20-30 cockroaches in the room (not exaggerating), including crawling over the bed. We sent photos as proof but were polite about it and just asked for a refund, and they acted friendly and apologised, and then directed us to Booking.com for the refund. Booking.com opened an investigation and then said Cambridge Lodge has given a totally different story (with blatant lies) and won’t refund, essentially gaslighting us. Luckily 5 months later (5!), my in-laws’ credit card company fought for their money back - but still, never expected this kind of manipulation in Australia. They take advantage of international travellers who can’t fight for their money back. I’ve read another review saying the same thing. Usually Australian hospitality is great, so this was a huge embarrassment - even for hostel standards.

I get it is affordable accommodation but why does it have to be that crappy?
No aircon in the rooms, barely maintained, furniture is falling apart, cheapest, room smelled like dirty socks, shared toilets were barely a toilet... How hard is it to make it slightly better? Staff were friendly but it doesn't balance it out

We had a great stay at this place! The location was perfect—just 5 minutes to public transport, and only 15 minutes by train to the city center. The area was full of really good cafés and restaurants, and our clean room even had a fridge and sink, which was super practical. There was also a nice little terrace next to our room. The quiet street and super friendly staff made the stay even better!

Ok. This place is basic. It’s also awesome. It’s also cheap. You’ll Get more than what you paid for. It’s good value. It’s not the ritz. Houses next to this are 2+ million. Staff are excellent and proud of their place. This fact sold me. It’s quaint, clean, decent and cheap. Stanmore should have more of this.
