Cold pies!
This place is the central hub of all things Vili's, and yet, they serve cold pies. I don't understand. This is where they should be at their absolute best, but no.
Like many South Australians I've been coming here for years but I can't give them a better rating just out of sentiment. They should do better, and the pastries should be at their best. Vili would turn in his grave knowing his product was being this mistreated along with his clients.
Anyway, chips are always fresh and the gravy is a standout, and you can always rely on these to be great.
Those who love the Beef Rendang pie should shed a tear as it's no longer on the menu. :'(
Prices are reasonable, but who wants to pay for cold pies! Staff are friendly and helpful and there's been a refresh of the cafe, if you haven't been in a while.

My suggestion is not to talk up the pies and take interstate visitors there, they'll be disappointed.

Recommended, of course. But, Vili's, do better.

I haven’t been to Vili’s in years but after the ANZAC service this morning, we popped in for a bite. I was really surprised and impressed. Unassuming but we had a great brekkie. The bacon and egg sandwich overflowed with tasty bacon and the big breakfast was huge.

The line snaking to the door is proof enough that Vili's Bakery is a winner.
Their pies look delish, but we couldn't go past fully loaded rolls made fresh to order.
Diner decor and service with a smile made Vili's an excellent lunch experience!

I’m actually so sorry to give my disappointed review: Vilis this morning was not so busy, so time was not the problem. I took Away 1 Pork Snitzel Burger, with chips, a chunky meat pie, and an amazing looking dougnut with the easter egg on top.
The Service woman was simply lovely.
But my Snitzel burger was not.
The bun was soggy, and all ingredients so wet. The pork snitzel had no flavour and was very dry. I dont like telling them, how to cook chips……. But if they talked to Fat Chicken on Henley Beach road torrensville, they would learn how to make crisp, snap, golden hot chips….the Vilis chips are white, cool, and dry like bread. Arwful. In my opinion. I threw the half eaten burger in the garden, with the chips. A sad fate.
The chunky Pie was mouth wateringly good.. it melted on my tongue. This is what Vilis is best at in my experience. So I am sorry but I did not enjoy my food there today. I paid over &40.00 and should have stuck to the pie.

The original Cafe De Vili's and an iconic location in Adelaide that has consistently delivered delicious meals at any time of the day

I don't know a single person from Adelaide that hasn't at some point had a Vili's product, and it speaks a testament to their brand and quality

The food is consistent and delicious; unfortunately I've never explored beyond the pie and chips - In my humble opinion that's what Vili's is all about - but looking at what comes out it all looks delicious

You don't need my review to recognise that this place is great and longstanding- everyone should go through here. It's South Australian history and it's a great time

Wow! What a fantastic cafe that is open 24/7.

Great menu options with lots of variety to suit all tastes. Anything from sandwiches to roast dinners, burgers, hot dogs, pies. The list goes on.

I really enjoyed my tuna mornay, so creamy and tasty. The chips and gravy were very moreish.

There are so many cakes to choose from, too. I went the bee stings and it's the best I've ever eaten.

Visiting from Melbourne and stumbled onto Vili's. Came here twice for breakfast. Had our first pie floater today. Yummo. Last week we had the deluxe breakfast and eggs Benedict. Also excellent. What a find this place is. The only thing that marred it was today's waitress who got shirty because we complained about our coffee order not being what we asked for. ? Still, we'll be back when next in town.

It's #buySAforSA week in South Australia. I went down to my good friends at Vili's to try out their pie of the month - the Mexican Pie. They're also doing delicious pie toppers in various flavours so I kept with the mexican theme and got the mexican pie topping. For dessert the Nutella Bomb. Vili's is a South Australian bakery and has been around since 1968. Everything is handmade at the bakery.

The presentation of the pie was visually exciting. Wow ! It did look too good to eat. The pastry was nice and soft. It had a nice fluffy texture on the palate. The pasty was baked perfectly top, sides and bottom. The lid you didn't notice the traditional flakiness because of the amazing pie topping. The pastry was an even colour all round.

Let's get stuck into the pie. Now I've had the cocktail version of the Mexican pie, but it was time to get the big version with all the added extras. The pie looked to be packed full of mince and a few kidney beans. The taste was a mild mexican flavour. The mince was excellent, seasoned perfectly, had hints of tomato, capsicum and a paprika flavour. The Locally sourced meat, butchered and minced onsite. The meat to gravy ratio was spot on along with the consistency - perfect. The pie stability was good. Serving temp was spot on. Now this is a sit down type of meal, it's got too much happening to eat it by hand. Now when you combine the pie with the guacamole and sour cream, my tastebuds were having a party. I totally loved vili's mexican pie, you've nailed the flavours and whoever came up with the pies toppings - you're a genius !
This was a culinary delight.

The Nutella Bombs - what a delicious tasting donut. It was fresh tasting, the soft velvety cream nutella was spectacular. It was a chocolate heaven.
Go and get one !

Plenty of dining area for you to sit down and enjoy your meals. Toilets also located onsite.
