Went here for the first time with my husband. No one came to offer water or a menu. We waited 10 minutes and husband had to go and ask for menu. Menu is like a news paper and really jumbled up. Ordered mashed avo with poached eggs and bacon on toast. Waited 15 minutes, our drinks arrived. Hubby ordered a bundy and coke, the waitress gave me the glass with the rum in it and can of coke to hubby. My meal eventually came and it was avo in a baby chino cup, slice bacon and eggs. No toast. Had to ask for it. Tables weren’t cleared the whole time we were there.

Cannot recommend Cafe 63 Dakabin enough. Every time we have been there, we have had the best service and food has always been on point. Tonight we were celebrating an 18th birthday and the service from Liam and the team was amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure it was a memorable celebration.

Breakfast at Cafe 63 - Dakabin: A Mixed Bag of Delights and Disappointments

We recently ventured out for a family breakfast at Cafe 63 - Dakabin, and while the overall experience was quite pleasant, it came with its share of culinary critiques.

The Food:
Ordered - Egg's Benedict and Waffles
Sourdough Toast: Unfortunately, the toast was a bit of a letdown. It was overcooked, lacking that ideal balance of crunch outside and softness inside that true sourdough lovers crave.
Eggs: The eggs were also slightly overcooked, missing that runny yolk which many of us look forward to mopping up with our bread. Moreover, there was a noticeable lack of sauce to complement the eggs, which could have elevated the dish significantly.

Service:
On the brighter side, the service was commendable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made our morning meal feel special despite the minor food hiccups.

Atmosphere:
The ambiance of the restaurant is generally pleasant, with a cozy and inviting feel. However, our visit was somewhat marred by an unexpected invasion of flies, which did detract from the overall enjoyment of our meal.

In conclusion, while Cafe 63 - Dakabin has the potential to be a delightful breakfast spot with its good service and nice atmosphere, attention to detail in the kitchen could elevate the dining experience. The sourdough needs a touch less time in the toaster, and the eggs could use a bit more love, perhaps with a generous drizzle of sauce. I was excited to give this new cafe 63 a shot as my previous experiences have been up and down at other locations
Sadly I had an identical experience here as I did at previous ones.
I was seated at my table, I was brought water, And then nothing. No one came to take my order, not one server came up to me the 40 minutes I sat at my table with no coffee or food.
I ended up walking out after 40 minutes as I think it’s ridiculous to have to wait that long.
Can’t say anything about the food as I didn’t even get to see any let alone taste it.

Lovely atmosphere Lovely staff. It was nice to sneak out for a lunch date with my partner and our little dog without our teenage sons. We both had the South Islander, and I can honestly say that as a New Zealander, it was the best fish and chips I have had since moving here. The staff were so friendly, even our little dog got served a nice bowl of refreshing water which was so thoughtful. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making our lunch date feel special

Menu is extensive and a bit overwhelming however the food was really good. I had the Raft and hubby had the Endeavour , both delicious and plenty of food. If we are even in the area again, would definitely go back.
