Guided tours are available on Tues, Wed, and Thurs from the Visitors Information Centre at 10am. We arrived Friday morning to miss out, but the Self Guide Notes were sufficient for us to enjoy the tour. We stopped off at the Kintore Reserve Park, Sulphide Street Railway Museum, the Trades Hall, Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery, where we all spent some time. In between are many sites; the Town Hall Façade, the Post Office, theCourt House, Police Station, many old hotels and shops. We enjoyed our walk, but doubtless would have enjoyed more with a Guide with little anecdotes about the various venues.

Okay it is not furnished with correct period pieces but the owners have included a few quirky items. A look in the wardrobes will undercover old fashioned nightgowns and jacket. Side tables feature ladies black gloves and glittering purse. Toddington Cottage is a great place to base yourself in Broken Hill. Located within a easy ten minutes walk to centre of town, Sturt Park and pubs, cafes and supermarkets, location is great. Arriving in Broken Hill late in the afternoon, the owners Neville and Colleen had thoughtfully turned on the air conditioning prior to our arrive. My friend at accidently booked the accommodation for the wrong month which wasn't discovered until Neville called us wondering when we where arriving the next time. Neville happily changed our booking for the following month and didn't charge us for the error, which possibly resulted in the owners turning away other bookings. For which we are grateful.

The cottage we stayed in at 416 Beryl St was a lot more than a "cottage". It was a museum and art display all related to Broken Hill. The house built in the early '50s has 3 bdrooms, a large kitchen /dining area and a sitting/tv room out of the '50s and '60s (leather couch and chairs). No Internet but 5 minute walk to the library open 9 -6 week days which does. Worth every penny.

We stayed at Gretta's Place in Beryl Street . The owner was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very different, but in a good way. Furnished with lovely old furniture and bric a brac. We were very happy with the house and would love to return in the future.

had a great stay in Lotties cottage which provided clean comfortable well appointed accommodation. The service was excellent location very handy to all amenities. The indoor outdoor flow of the cottage made it a very pleasant environment to go back to after a busy day of sightseeing. Broken hill was a great destination .
