Don’t be fooled by the pretty good location and price. No financial savings are enough to balance out the horrors of a stay here.
The shower head holder was broken so they’d ’fixed it’ with a rubber band. Water went everywhere.
There was a blood stain on my bed cover.
And a massive hole in the ceiling of my bathroom from which I could hear the entire building burping, farting, talking, vomiting, weeing and pooing.

On the second night after i discovered the hole to my horror, I complained to reception and the young man laughed and said ‘yeah the building is pretty old’. I emailed the manager to ask for my money back or at least get some kind of apologetic reply, but nothing.

Stay here at your peril. Spend a little more for sanity and hygiene. You’re worth it.

The room was simple, old-fashioned and made delightful by windows on 3 sides. The tiny bathroom was well-designed and functional. The thing I didn’t like was receiving a very dodgy-looking SMS demanding my drivers licence be sent - I ignored it and all was well.

The motel is priced very modestly. The room was very nice except no air conditioning. Which on an unusually hot day and night in Hobart made it unbearable for us. We actually checked out after 1 night. And treated fantastically by reception who initiated a refund through trip.com

We stayed for 6 nights. During this time, no cleaning, room service were provided even though they suggest they provide it. Rooms were somewhat dirty to begin with. Tea / coffee or even toilet tissues were never refilled. Spoke to staff, they suggested they don't provide it. The star rating for this motel is not appropriate and should be lowered. Other things people might assume like air con or even iron are not available either. Location is the only great thing about it, however, there is not enough parking.

Look, I am not going to sit here and say this place is the Ritz, but for the price you pay, an the location you gain, you could do far worse. Think backpacker's hostel, minus the communal kitchen.

Suitable buget-freindly option for a quick jaunt in the south.

You get what you paid for. A very run down motel in need of a renovation. The pictures looks like it was taken a long time ago, definitely didn’t look like that condition. There are no stairs, so be prepared to climb up with luggage.  The toilet was so old that the plastic was crusty. The shower curtains were hanging for its dear life on 2 rings left. The room was quite dark and scary with missing lights. There was a fluorescent light just lying on the floor. The ceiling had some water damage previously causing maybe a hole or cracks in the ceiling, so they patched it up with a board with 2 out of the 4 screws still intact.  It looked very unsafe and could fall any time.

You may believe this place is good value for money although it really isn’t.
This motel needs to be closed temporarily and serviced correctly.
Staff are keeping standards low because people will book for the lower prices offered.

The rooms were uncleanly as mentioned many times throughout other reviews listed here. I would recommend packing slippers/sandals/ thongs to walk around the room.

As well as the shower temperature not regulating itself. It’s either scorching hot or freezing, not to mention lack of separation of the shower from the rest of the bathroom.

The room smelled of mould and was not cleaned properly prior to arrival. The sheets pilled over clothes worn to bed. The blinds were stained and thinned out.

There is a shared window between you and your neighbour which meant it had to be closed almost the entirety of the time to ensure you receive privacy in your room.

Moreover, the walls are thin and everything can be heard from the corridor as well as the level above as though the sound is occurring within your motel room.

The one positive i could provide is that the Blue Hills Motel is situated in a perfect location between the CBD and the wharf as well as most bus routes and supermarkets/cafes/ takeaway. All of these places are in walking distance from the motel.

I’m disappointed as this building has so much potential of which it hasn’t received over time. Hopefully it receives the care and servicing it deserves for future stayers.

Avoid at All Costs!

This accommodation was nothing like the pictures online. The room was filthy—thick dust under the beds, walls and floors that looked like they had never been cleaned, and what appeared to be human excrement on the bathroom door and wall. Absolutely disgusting. To make matters worse, the staff disappeared as soon as we were given the keys, leaving us with no one to address these issues. Stay far away!!

When bringing up the issue of poo on the door the manager told us "you get what you pay for".
Absolutely disgusting behaviour don't waste your money.
