We stayed here for a few nights, at night, through the early hours of the morning we could hear the restaurant washing machine and dryer downstairs, so not a quiet place to stay. The shower floor was not level, had to move the water towards the drain after showering. Should have better rules regarding noise disturbance etc...

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was a bit dated, but large and had everything we needed. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant on the ground floor has delicious food at good prices. The bar is pretty small.

Just had the nicest meal at black buffalo. Tas crumbed scallops and vege. Roast carrot beans brocallini and crunchy spuds cooked fresh for $34 will def go again and they open all day til 8:30.

Had a booking tonight and to start with was impressed a locals meal available at a cheaper price, as a group with budgets to consider- unfortunately this is all I was impressed by.

Poor service, waited an hour for very basic meals and only received when asking how far they were. Staff couldn't answer questions about food nor interested to find out.

Cleared the table ourself to be able to have cake.
When asking for the cake staff said we had to pay a fee for this - but when I booked the table they told me they didn't charge for that but that changed tonight at time of service. Then when wanting the box back it had been hacked to get the cake out.

Sadly we would regularly go for meals and celebrations and being local we wouldn't return here due to lack of service.

Food was below average. Service was incredibly poor - one female server was the exception and seemed to be doing everything. Male waiter delivered our entree and dropped the butter bowl on the floor and didn’t pick it up and stated “I’ll get another one”. When he delivered the mains he handed it to us at head height, and before handing it over the steak knife slid off and onto the floor. He did not pick it up, did not return with another one. And didn’t apologise. In fact he barely said a word aside from the occasional grunt and eye roll. None of our meals were finished or even half way eaten. Tables are tiny and entree items were not cleared away before or during the main, making the space to eat even smaller. We wouldn’t return or recommend.

This was a great option for Queen's Domain Parkrun, as the start was less than a kilometre away, along a bush trail. As other reviewers have noted, the hotel was a bit old, but I didn't mind the old-fashioned look-and-feel so much. At least it was clean and the staff were friendly. Because the accommodation is over a restaurant and a pub, you do get some noise when you're in the rooms upstairs, but it's nothing too excessive.

Had baggers and mash today 18 March 2025 and was offered the seniors for $20 which included desert. I had the one on the main menu for $27 because I was told it was a larger meal. I was served 2 thin sausages on potato with gravey. I believed I had been served the senior meal as it was a meal I have often at other restaurants but always thick sausages, I asked the waitress and she informed me that it was correct I then asked what the senior meal consisted of and was told only one sausage. It was an absolute insult to be served such a poor meal for that price and would not recommend the place to anyone. Gerard McCarthy. Tasmania

We enjoyed our stay here throughout our time in Tasmania. The room was big and had a lovely view, it was very quiet. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant for a couple of nights during our stay and loved the food! Staff were great at the restaurant too.
