Good was really nice, but a little bit cheap on the bits that count. Ordered the Pancakes “the floss boss” and it came out either about 4 pancakes lovely stacked and just one strawberry cut in half. Seriously? The menu said “with strawberries” not one cut in half. I pointed this out and a staff member brought out a small portion which was good service from him. The ice cream scoop was also teeny tiny, I wouldn’t describe it as a scoop so much… also pancakes taste was just ok, but the pan Scott’s was lovely. one other thing, apparently there was a sign saying eggs would be fully cooked unless I asked, I missed this unfortunately, my egg was fully cooked. When I ordered the egg I should have specified how I wanted it cooked. My bad

The Basil & Wine has a wonderful atmosphere that feels warm and inviting.

The presentation of the meal was quite impressive, with dishes that looked as good as you'd expect from a higher-end restaurant.

However, the taste left much to be desired. The vegetables, in particular, lacked any real flavour and felt under-seasoned. Additionally, the waiting time was longer than expected, with about 35 minutes before the food arrived.

While I enjoyed the ambience, the taste and wait time could use some improvement.

My experience in the night was beautiful however this was brought down by the service I received when trying to book a table. I asked for a particular time being 6.30pm and was told it wasn't available but they could put me in at 5pm which was too early for me. So I finished the call when nothing else was offered.

I went online to discover that they have 2 sittings. One for 5pm to 7.00pm the serving time being 7pm to 9pm. This was never mentioned in the call I made.

So I call again. This time they look and say yes they can book it in. I didn't mention that I'd called previously. ? Call is finished and is booked in the name of my group attending.
Next thing after the call is finished I receive a text message wanting me to confirm my booking by supplying credit card details. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared to do this as I had just had my card replaced for the second time this year due to fraud.

I called them again for the third time and was told that this was due to bookings made and then becoming a no show. I explained my situation due to the fraud activities on my card and that this was a social event for my group of ladies and that this was my 3rd call in less than 30 minutes. Eventually they reluctantly agreed to the booking without credit card details.

Theses calls were all made 24 hours prior to the booking. At the time of my third call I asked why nothing was mentioned at my first call about the 2 sitting times and they advised that the second sitting they were fully booked and a cancellation must have come in between my two calls?

I called the following afternoon to change the booking from 9 to 5 as people died out due to our time change. When we arrived a table then needed to be put together for our booking.
During the course of the evening I'm looking around the restaurant and it was only half full. ? What happened did they get many cancellation in 24 hours as my third call I'm told that they had just had a cancellation to take my booking.

To the owners..... Your staff need training... if my group of ladies hadn't been expecting us to go here I would've gone elsewhere. They evening was great however there were 3 birthdays happening here all around us. Would've been nice to be in a quiet spot away from the birthday groups as the manager knew that our group were a group of older ballet ladies

This restaurant combines excellent food, atmosphere, and service at a very high level. They seem to be good at marketing too, as I couldn’t find any flaws. The only downside is that it’s fully booked on weekends. I’d love to visit again. Thank you!

Had my graduation dinner at Basil & Vine with my family and absolutely loved it. We were glad to have booked a table as it was very busy and popular. The service was good and the food delicious! Also the atmosphere was really beautiful and cozy, which is a rare find in this country! We will definitely come back again!

My wife and I went for dinner on a Monday night. (6.30pm)
Basil & Vine is a great restaurant.
We have dined in here before and had there take away.. never had any complaints

This time.

SERVICE (4 ?)
the waiter we had was a young guy and was clearly new to the food service industry.. (not saying he was bad).. he just needs time to learn.. better people skills and table service..
We could see he was making an effort..
but overall, the other staff were lovely to deal with..

ATMOSPHERE (4 ?)
They did have a nice warm fire burning on the inside of the restaurant, which drew us in.. but we didn't get to enjoy that, unfortunately.. as we probably didn't time our entry, right.. 2 or 3 tables left inside as we were seated outside. Maybe next time we will book ahead. 🙂

FOOD (5 ?)
But the reason we went was food.. and the food was great.. I had Beef Lasagne and wife had Pesto Chicken w/ bacon.
Both were awesome..
We had a bruchetta for entre, which I think would have benefited from a little fetta broken over it.. but the balsamic glaze was really nice..

We also had Tiramisu and Panacotta for dessert.. individually, they were great desserts, presented well, and super yummy.. however, we found if you combine them in one mouthful.. wow..?

Many thanks for a delicious meal..
Hope you're around for many years to come...
Bill & Lea
