My wife and I spent two nights at Barossa House in March 2025. The lady who runs the place is Sophia, and she could not have been more helpful and hospitable.||It is a true bed and breakfast... both mornings, Sophia took time to cook us a beautiful meal. The first day she made us Eggs Benedict (which just happened to be my wife's favourite, and on her birthday too!) and the next morning was muesli followed by eggs and bacon. Both meals came with coffee, and it was a great way to start our day trips into the Barossa Valley.||The house itself is an absolutely beautiful old place, with high ceilings and great old dark wood fittings. It is very quiet at night, and our room had everything we could need... an en suite with a toilet and shower, a sink with a mirror above, very comfortable beds and pillows and even a decanter of port on a small table.||We absolutely loved our stay there and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a special place to stay. Many thanks to Sophia and her family!

Our hostess was so welcoming we were immediately relaxed. It’s in the heart of the Barossa and made the perfect starting point to visit some wineries. |The breakfasts were excellent and the opportunity to talk to a few other wine lovers was great. | Sunsets from the veranda can be perfect in the right conditions.

We are an English couple who stayed a night after exploring some wineries nearby. This place is in a perfect location! Absolutely lovely experience here staying for a night on my birthday, beautiful rooms, some port on arrival which was a lovely touch, and a delicious breakfast- with the loveliest most helpful host! Wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back!

We recently spent a couple of nights at the Barossa House with a few friends and can say it is great value and the hospitality extended to us by Sophia was second to none and made our stay. The breakfast on the front porch and the coffee is sensational. Thank you Sophia πŸ™

I'll start by saying that based on my experience with McLaren Vale and Barossa, it's not even worth going to Barossa. McLaren Vale is so much nicer. However, if you do, while Barossa House is an ok place to stay, compared to other places we stayed on our trip in the area, it was of lower value.||The room was ok -- it was unclear that we had a bar fridge in the room because it was sitting in the fireplace. But the most inconvenient of all is that there is a very small bathroom with a toilet and shower. But the sink is in the room. So if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you have to figure out how to get to the sink in the dark or turn on the light and wake your partner. NOT optimal. Glad we were staying for only one night. ||We ended up picking up Chinese food in town and eating at the tables outside which was nice and had a good sunset overlooking the vineyards across the street. My husband liked his breakfast, but thank goodness I brought my own food. First, breakfast isn't served until 8:30-9, which is about an hour later than we'd like to eat. Second, I have food allergies which I communicated to Sophia, but they were lost in translation to Sarah who brought out something I couldn't eat. Despite asking for a piece of toast and cold slices of tomatoes, it was another 30 minutes before I got it, my husband had long since finished eating, and we were itching to head out. Luckily, I had something of my own to eat while waiting. ||The next place we stayed in McLaren Vale was a whole house and 2/3 of the price. While it's not fair to compare one area to another, since we experienced them back-to-back, we couldn't help but make the comparison. ||If you're very into an older B&B type of accommodation, this may be better suited for you.

Such a warm welcome from host Sophia, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. A charming house, that feels like a 'home' away from home. Location is central and close to wonderful restaurants, wineries and tourist attractions. Sophia made us a beautiful breakfast every morning, and was instrumental in helping us decide how to plan our days. Highly recommended.
