They called me twice to make sure I knew how to find the place. They called me a third time to make sure I was going to have something to eat when I arrived late, and they then delivered a hot pizza to my room while I put my horse in the paddock for the night. Lovely people and a really cool establishment. I look forward to staying for more than a night next time. Thank you all for having me.

This place is beautiful,
If you decide to go out toward Coonabarabran you CANNOT bypass this place, it has a beautiful set-up, tranquil and peaceful.. like an oasis you wouldn't expect, the people who own and manage the property are passionate and kind-hearted. And the memories you will take with you will remain with you for ever. I cannot say a bad word about this place..
Ps - the restaurant serves delicious stone oven pizzas always freshly made and there gelatos are bliss no matter what temperature the weather has thrown at you. I WILL definitely return to Pilliga Pottery Barkala farmstead on my next pilliga adventure.

We visited the pottery business and enjoyed a lovely hot drink with scones, jam and cream. Even though the Blue Wren Cafe does not open on a Wednesday, they very quickly offered us food options - perhaps because it was a very wet cold day. Beautiful showroom of pottery - all for sale. The courtyard garden had an artsy Mediterranean feel and on a warm sunny day would be a delightful place to relax and eat.

We didn't stay there - but it is a fantastic place to visit. The pottery is awesome, the staff are friendly, the grounds are just wonderful. We took a calls in glazing which was so much fun! Totally recommend a visit!

Incredibly scenic and unique place to visit. We loved our school house accommodation. The family who own and run the property were very kind and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Prepare to switch off electronic devices and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Last minute decision to camp overnight. Loved that everywhere we looked there was artwork and cool things to catch your eye. Loved playing volley ball with the staff and other campers, feeding the animals was a hit. Cafe food was delicious! Campground was well maintained and shower was great ! Looking forward to returning to do the bushwalks around the property & make some pottery of our own.

We loved every moment of our stay here. Maria is so hospitable and makes you feel like you are the centre of the world. She put us in touch with Kerry, who volunteers as a guide and takes people out on trails that he has discovered over the decades that he has been visiting the property. Kerry is a wonderfully gentle person and an absolute vault of knowledge about all the bush plants, geology, topography and wildlife. We went on a 2 hour trip with him of the property and saw some amazing sights and listened to some great stories. Kerry is probably the best bushwalking guide we have had - we couldn't believe our luck that our paths crossed with him that day.||||We were two couples and stayed in the beautiful Studio house for the first night. We loved all the wooden touches and pottery. We also played table tennis non-stop which was a great way to shake off the long drive from Sydney.||The second and third nights were in the farmstay. As we stayed in winter, it got cold on the common balcony, so we opted to stay warm near the pizza oven the restaurant over wine and games. ||||Everyone here is so friendly. We really can't wait to return to this place.

We wanted a last family holiday all together before our elder daughter headed off to Uni. Our younger daughter chose this location as we had previously stayed there in 2015 and had such fond memories. Luckily this visit was at least as good as our first stay.
We stayed again in the Poets Cottage which was just perfect for our needs. Far enough away from everyone that we felt totally private, but close enough to walk to everything. I also loved the fact that the wi-fi didn't quite reach the cottage (well that's what I told the girls), so we were "forced" to read books, play board games and talk instead.
We ate most of our meals at the cafe, mostly to give us a break from cooking (well me), but also because they are so delicious and hearty.
Bird watching was a real treat - we saw at least 15 different species and were able to finally identify some of the gorgeous songs that we were hearing.
The pottery lessons (including the wheel which was our favourite) were just the right length and we're all very proud of what we made.
Relaxing by the pool was a treat, so all in all it was everything I dreamed for in a proper family holiday.
