We have stayed overnight in Coonabarabran many times but always at the various noisy motels along the highway where the big trucks thunder past all through the night. This time we chose Bamboo Cottage, and what a difference! It is so quiet and peaceful at night, the rooms are large, and everything we needed was provided and more. There are lots of air-conditioners in the house so it is warm or cool depending on the weather. The bathroom is lovely with piping hot water and great pressure. We also appreciated having off street parking for our car and decaf coffee provided in the kitchen. It really feels like a home away from home. We hope Bamboo Cottage will be available for our next trip.

This was our first year not camping at the showground, Bamboo Cottage was a real treat. I was able to bake muffins for the team every morning, wash and dry uniform and sleep well. We were warm and cosy. Bamboo Cottage is an older cottage that has been tidied up - newly renovated bathroom, whilst leaving the quaintness of its own time period - great carpet !! We stayed for five nights and had everything we needed.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently. ||PROS:|- nice quiet location. |- excellent modern renovated bathroom (although it really really really needs an exhaust fan in there, not just for the shower steam but also for after someone goes to toilet and has had a wicked curry the night before).. |- comfortable beds.|- air conditioned front bedroom and dining room.|- great selection of board games to play and books to read. |- free wifi.|- walking distance to Woolworths, BWS, and the main street with a choice of cafés, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. |- short drive from Warrumbungle National Park and nearby observatories. |- laundry in the house.|- bacon, eggs, bread, condiments for brekky included.||CONS:|- only the front bedroom and dining area are air conditioned. The other main bedroom and living room are not, and on a hot day the living room needs to have the door closed and be avoided as it is way too hot to go in there. It heats the other areas of the house too causing the air con to struggle. When it is cooler though, the lounge is super-comfortable and it is a great place to hang out with company. |- the gardens need a lot of TLC. The front and back yard are just crying out for attention. There is so much amazing potential there. Some nice garden edging (sleepers?), a few nice natives planted (small eucalypts or grevilias etc), a swing seat suspended from the huge tree, picket fence out the front, etc and it would be a tranquil oasis for garden lovers. |- ANTS! Watch out for large ants on the path at the back door area of the house. They are going huge, and although not as aggressive as bull-ants, they will still give you a nasty bite if you stand still in one spot for too long. ||That's it. Bamboo Cottage is a great place to stay. I would love to come back again (maybe when it isn't so hot).

Four of us stayed in this lovely bed and breakfast. It has everything needed, great beds, a loo in the back yard if one is a shy pooper and additional shower in the laundry, plenty of options for brekkie...However, as soon as entering this house my self and female college were seeing shadows and feeling a presence aka someone intensely watching when performing menial tasks. ||The men in the group however felt nothing and laughed this off. As the day progressed into night, a disembodied growling was heard in the back yard, twice... this caused me to run inside.... only following inside to find a neatly stacked circle off books near the bookcase in which my college had felt bad vibes from prior. This house certainly has an extra layer for the sensitive type and how fortunate to have experienced this phenomena! ||Next time I visit I will pack a ouija board and dowsing rods, because I think this ghost wants to communicate. ||||PS : great beds, we all slept like the dead.

We stayed here for 2 nights, the cottage is lovely with a fully equipped kitchen, Anna leaves bacon, eggs and bread with an array of cereal for breakfast. The beds are large and very comfortable and the bookshelf has a great range of games. It is by far the best value for money on our trip

We had never stayed in a B&B before and, if this place is any indication, we have been missing out!||This is a 3-bedroom, 50's style house that has undergone extensive renovation including a brand new bathroom and air conditioning and decorated tastefully. (It is, however, a "work in progress", but not enough to be a problem)||The shower is one of the BEST I have ever used, including our own at home.||The owner, Anna, is more than welcoming and, if you give her enough notice, will not only lay the fire but light it before you arrive - great in winter. As she doesn't actually live in this house, you have the whole place to yourself including the backyard, complete with undercover seating area where I could have stayed all afternoon.||There is a cupboard full of games and a 'library' to entertain yourself if the weather is too bad to get outside.||The "Bed" component of the B&B was luxurious and was the biggest of our whole trip. I'm 6'4" (193cm) and could not even touch both ends at the same time.||The "Breakfast" part included more than we could possibly eat in a week (we were only there for one night - our only regret)!||Walking distance to shopping and the main street of town but very quiet.||We thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Coonabarabran.

Comfortable and quaint. It's not modern but it has everything you need. The beds are pretty hard, but large. Walking distance to everything in town. In a quiet street location. Owner easy to communicate with so great.
