Review for Astoria Bed and Breakfast

I had a disappointing experience at Astoria Bed and Breakfast. First, the listing on booking.com was completely misleading. Rather than an actual bed and breakfast, it turned out to be just an extra bedroom from an ensuite, which was not at all what we expected.

Upon arrival, we were met with unwelcoming attitudes from the elderly couple who hosted the place. While I understand the need for photo ID and guest information as part of their policies, they also requested credit card details on a guest declaration form—even though we had already paid through booking.com. This struck us as odd and unnecessary for such a small, informal setup. When I called to clarify, Michael, the owner, was extremely rude, dismissively stating it was “their” rules.

The entire interaction left my partner and me feeling uneasy and uncomfortable. Despite paying in advance, we ultimately chose not to stay the night. We’ve stayed in similar establishments before and never encountered such an off-putting experience or requests for direct credit card details outside the booking app. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a welcoming or professional stay.

My wife and I booked a two night stay during our visit to Perth. After reading some of the negative reviews we were cautiously optimistic. We found the rooms and shared kitchenette to be immaculately clean. However the check in process seemed a bit tedious. Especially if you arrive needing to use the toilet in your room.||The registration form requires that you place your drivers license and credit card onto the physical form, after which you photocopy and text that form to the management. This operation is completed in the lobby while you wait. |The original form is then placed into the physical room box on the floor. We were assured that the form with our data was to be destroyed upon ocheckout. ||Continental breakfast (if your rate included same) includes two bananas, milk,cereal, sliced white bread, raison bread with packaged jam and Peanut Butter along with tea, coffee and a kettle. There is also water in the frig for purchase. ||We would stay here again. It was reasonably priced and immaculately clean.

Astoria was plesant, and I stayed there Saturday to Tursday so that last negative review was certainly unwarranted. Clearly says no alcohol in rooms so suspect they were on the bottle. Bed was comfy, security tight and digital, continental brekkie every morning, kitchen is a shared and ample space for what you pay, clean towels daily, and close to Kingsway sports complex and drive to shopping spots which we targeted. Natalie and Michael were responsive always. I shall surely return.

Astoria is well located in a quiet neighborhood, with added security to make one feel safe and secure. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and well maintained and the room we stayed in, Platinum was comfortable with nice bedding. The ensuite was huge with jacuzzi tub and a large spa shower with multiple heads for water massage. The room had access to the outdoor patio with lots of seating. A beautiful fish tank in the bathroom was a lovely feature. The shared kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need. A wonderful breakfast was available every morning with the best coffee ever. Michael and Natalie were warm and welcoming hosts. Free WiFi was included.

That was an absolute slay of a stay, had the best time, Natalie and her husband were so accommodating and lovely throughout! Wish Covid wasn’t such an issue as we know meeting them in person would have been lovely. Don’t double think just book

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful bed and breakfast over Christmas. ||Everything about our stay was great. We loved the huge bathroom with spa and the cute little fish tank, the beautiful single rose and the homemade treats left for us on a couple of occasions. ||The owners were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them. ||We will definitely be back! Thank you for your hospitality Natalie and Michael.

I stayed at the Astoria Retreat B&B for one month on a recent business trip to Perth. My stay was wonderfully comfortable and convenient, my work was only a short drive away in Malaga. The owners Natalie & Michael made me feel so at home and were so accommodating and caring, they often prepared a surprise treat from time to time and even an Easter gift, knowing that I was alone during the holidays. The rooms are well appointed with great linen and amenities and the continental breakfast offers everything one would need. I can highly recommend Astoria Retreat for anyone visiting Perth looking for quality accommodation with a personal touch outside of the city.
