We have stayed at the Alara a few times now, in the pet friendly rooms. There are grassy areas for the pets to use including a disposal bin for the poop bags. The rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable. It is a real bonus to have a restaurant on site with a yummy menu - Jimmy D’s. I’m sure we will be back.

5 star rating for this Alara Motor Inn, the rooms are very clean, heaps of coffee and tea for you in the rooms there microwave oven , the owner as I never meet him butwe talk on the phone is a very honourable person as he said the rooms were at a certain price and on a website it was saying it was cheaper, the owner did honour the cheaper price to me and that made me happy plus he trusted me in my word which makes the gentleman a very honourable person and I do highly recommend this place first stopover or 2 days or a week this place is so clean, this is one of the cleanest motels I've ever been in and I've been in a lot of motels and it is a really beautiful room. This is the first time I've ever been to this place and the first time I've ever been in Mackay so I really do, highly recommend this Alara Motor Inn in Mackay.

Room was just right, bed was comfortable. Didn’t smell like a pet room at all. Only comment is it’s below the air port flight path and the main road noise at night.

We stayed 5 nights from may 5th till 10th. Originally was meant to be 4 but flew in early during cyclone . Everything was amazing. Only 2 things bugged us which was hearing a couple through our room absolutely go for it & hearing another guy on his phone talking meaning the walls were paper thin . I feel like the place needs a little update . Other then that the laundry needs an update as so many rooms and only one machine of each and the dryer was broken the whole time was so hard. Other then that was good

Well our 'go to' Mackay hotel is sadly no longer. New management/owners has now forced us to look elsewhere whilst travelling through Mackay. No friendly greeting that was previously provided by Natalie at reception, a drop in standards, a lack of room amenities and necessaries (wine glasses etc) and an increase in price, means we will now choose another hotel.
