I stayed at the occidental Friday and Saturday nights 13/14Sept. Booked online based on their own advertising. I was impressed at the quality overall. The share bathroom (very clean and well updated) concept means much more affordable accommodation. I loved the room and the in-room full internet TV which meant I could watch the US Open tennis live and any other app offered program. The elevator/lift was a bonus as I was travelling with a bicycle. I guess most of all I loved the position; walking distance to everything important to me and directly across the road from Wynyard station. Took my bike for an extended Saturday ride with easy access to upgraded Sydney bike lanes (for the most part) made a weekend in Sydney staying at the Occidental a true pleasure and real delight.

One of the best if not the best place for affordable drinks in the cbd. Happy hour is outright cheap and drink prices are actually reasonable even the rest of the time. The food is good as well and staff are friendly. Highly recommend.

A great gathering place. Lunch was fantastic, great service, food and drinks. You must book, it was packed on a Wednesday lunch. A real stylish place worth the investment.

Four nights. Room 47, a corner room.
Check in was prompt, even though I did have to ring a number due to the hotel being shut on a Sunday.

It is a heritage building and I love that there are many period parts of the building still visable.

Four floors up via a lift. A light and bright corner room with two old style sash windows. One of which has been clumsily screwed shut, with resulting gaps wide enough that the wind blows straight through and flaps the broken blind.
Rooms have a fridge, microwave, tea n coffee making facilities, table and chairs, side table, wardrobe, TV, sink, air-conditioning.
No towel rails!

Shared bathroom facilities were clean and fresh
Bed was very comfortable. But gosh the room was so noisy due to the ill fitting windows, and of course the location. I don't mind sleeping with ear plugs in but even these did not sufficiently deaden the noise.

Value for money and location are excellent. I would definitely book again. But a little work to seal up the non opening window in the room and the installation of a towel rail. Would be great!

Cheers.

Great location for exploring all of Central Sydney. They have a lively pub downstairs but great soundproofing from it if you just want to get some sleep in a quaint quiet room. The streets nearby can get a little loud but nothing major. I travelled solo and I recommend it.

The best Happy Hour in Sydney. The food is amazing and a pint is only 7 dollars. I love the Wednesday Wings for less than a dollar and just amazing. Really good service and great vibes.

Unfortunately, the room assigned to us is extremely noisy. The sound of cars passing by, the traffic lights, and the vibration of the windows with every vehicle make it very difficult to have a peaceful stay. We were simply looking for a clean and quiet place to spend the night, but this environment is far from that. What was offered is not fair to us.

The Occi is a great pub for after work drinks with your mates. Beer is a little cheaper here than other places. Standing tables outside for drinking on the footpath when it's too crowded inside. Nearly always busy.
