Decided to stop over for one night on the way to west coast from Dover. Beautiful self contained apartments on the river. Plenty of room and all the amenities you need. Room was clean, comfortable and warm. Bed very comfortable and soft pillows. Was a great find and would definitely stop again.

The two bedroom cottage is really lovely, spacious and very well appointed.  The location and views is really something.  Photos do not do it justice.  Only stayed the one night unfortunately as it was so peaceful and relaxing.  Would love to visit New Norfolk again and would happily stay here again.

November 2024|The Shingles Riverside Cottages||New Norfolk; Humbolt Cottage||979068792||Beware when booking with this company, they also run Tyenna River cottages; their email management is the same. . They seem to use unprofessional and shady practices by "taking the liberty" to add extra fees for a pre arranged booking for 4 people. Their website keeps defaulting to 2 people when booking, then added $40 per person per night at the last minute when you again confirm that there will be 4 people. ( despite informing all along from initial booking in June 2024, and through various emails that we are a group of 4) Of all the many properties that we have booked in Tasmania this is the only company to do this. The actual property; Humbolt Cottage is nice enough with many quirky garden features like old bed frames throughout the garden and woods, but the amount of damaged garden equipment and external light fittings around the garden would concern us if we had young children.|Over 6 months after the original review I had very rude and vitriolic emails from the manager about my initial review, which I stand by, and now have been asked to amend my review This makes me think they don't effectively monitor what people think of their service and certainly don't tolerate criticism. We spent 6 weeks in Tasmania staying in everything from rustic cabins to beautiful B&Bs and this is the only accommodation that caused us consternation. I stand by my original review and would suggest Veronica learns from it rather than launch a tirade 6 months after the stay.

This is a lovely place to stay. We only spent one night there but wish we had stayed longer.|Clean, well appointed, spacious, easy to find and access. We were in a one bedroom cottage that was great for two people but would be equally as good for a family. Everything you need for cooking is on hand.|Lovely views to the river and a nice BBQ area for guest use. You park right at the door which is super convenient. |The only downfall for me is that it was a little cold in the bedroom so I had to turn the heat pump up quite high to warm the whole unit. That worked well and it wasn't cold during the night then.|This accommodation is great value for money.

This place is amazing. Right on the River Derwent with different sized accommodation to suit most needs. Local wildlife is moving in and around the gardens and river front making it that little bit more special. Great rates, super clean and well maintained unit that we stayed in. Location is perfect for day trips in any direction. Main town had everything you'll need for a stay. We would 100% stay again when we next visit Tasmania. Loved it.

This accommodation was so unexpected. We were blown away by the location, nothing more relaxing that sitting in the lounge room watching the Derwent River flow past at the bottom of the garden. The cottage was well appointed, very clean and very comfortable. There were ample breakfast supplies and a stove and hotplates for cooking. The beds were so comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If we are ever down that way again, we will definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Shingles Riverside Cottages. Our unit was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Very spacious with comfortable bed and couch. A washing machine is also available in the unit (Willow). Would definitely stay here again.

Travelled the state extensively, staying at many accomodations. The moment we drove down the driveway and entered our room, we felt truly on holiday. Such a beautiful location, amazing cottage equipped with everything you could need. Most lovely owners who were so welcoming. Definitely our go to when heading South. A definite winner and a beautiful delight.
