Steak & Pepper pie $6

So this took me to my fourth and final bakery I covered on Thursday. headed over to Blakeview to Nook Bakery & Cafe located within Blakeview Shopping centre. On recommendation I got the Steak & Pepper pie.

The pie was pretty big, felt heavy and the presentation looked good. The pastry had a sort of a golden ring just under the lid, and had that whitish look. Sprinkle of peppers on top. The top and underside were cooked fine, just tasted a little dry.
The filling was a mince/steak mix. I could taste that hint of onion in the mince. The steak was soft to eat on the palette. I think it lacked that pepper zing, I reckon it needed more, but we're catering for the masses so it was an acceptable amount of pepper on the scale of things with the aftertaste gone quickly from your mouth. The meat to gravy ratio was good, packed to the brim and the serving temp was spot on.
For the size it's excellent value for 6 bucks !

Just paid $12 for the worst chicken and mayo wrap I've ever had, 70% carrot 20% leafy greens 10% chicken and 0% Mayo. This is what I get for trying something new and local. Should have just bought a whole chicken from Coles

Pies used to be excellent here. Delicious gravy, generous and quality meat and fantastic crispy pastry to top it off. Now they have significantly changed their pie making process and ingredients. The gravy is flourery, the pies are fatty and there is less meat, flavour I have grown to love is absent and the pastry is burnt and doughey. Very disappointing. I had so many great memories coming here with my girl and now that moment had passed.

Wasn’t fantastic.

Banh mi didn’t taste like a banh mi, had margarine, pickled onions and distribution of ingredients was poor.

Was made fresh, but was still soggy by the end of eating it.

Beef pie wasn’t overly warm, was a bit dry too.
