šŸ‘ Reviews of Nodo Newstead

Nodo Newstead has some serious strengths—starting with the food. The greens bowl was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. Portion size was on the smaller side, especially at $25, but the quality was undeniable.

The donuts and sweets looked absolutely incredible—definitely eyeing those for next time.

Coffee was decent, but my long black came out without any crema, which was a bit of a letdown. Service was a bit underwhelming too—I had to ask to order, which took away from the experience slightly.

Still, the food alone makes it worth a visit. A few small tweaks to service and coffee, and it could be a five-star spot.

We’ve been Nodo customers since they opened, and we are huge fans of their food. It breaks my heart to give a four star review, but our experience has been that their customer service (at least across their Newstead and Southbank locations) has been below the Australian standard. The staff are rarely proactive, often needing several prompts to seat groups, take orders, bring our plates, etc. When the Newstead location first opened, this wasn’t the case, but the quality of the customer service has consistently continued to drop. Their donut selection is fantastic, and absolutely delicious. Also highly recommend the burgers, harvest bowl, sandwiches and gluten free bread. Honestly, the food is brilliant, just really wish there was the consistent quality of customer service to match.

My favorite go-to place for brunch after Pilates session. Simple humble food and good coffee makes the weekend. Food is wholesome, delicious and wraps you in a nice warm hug as you mentally chill for the rest of the weekend. Highly recommend to drop by Nodo for good food and coffee. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

I normally have to have meat with my meal but really enjoyed this mushroom hash (though the extra salmon sides I’ve ordered helped too)! The coffee is great too.

Before heading to work, I randomly chose Nodo for breakfast, not realizing until after my visit that it’s a gluten-free brunch cafe. Everything I tried was delicious, which came as a pleasant surprise.

However, the service experience left much to be desired. Upon entering, I noticed a sign instructing customers to wait to be seated, so I did. A staff member who seemed responsible for seating us glanced over but didn’t approach. It wasn’t until I made deliberate eye contact that I received an awkward greeting.

The male staff member seated us at the first available table, which was noticeably sticky. I had to ask for a cloth to clean it myself, which felt unnecessary and avoidable.

As a barista, I could tell the milk in my coffee wasn’t steamed properly, though the pouring was decent. The taste was drinkable but far from impressive.

The food itself was good enough to lift my mood, despite the service hiccups. The overall experience wasn’t bad, but the attitude and actions of the male staff member took away from what could have been a more enjoyable visit.

We popped into Nodo for coffee and a gluten-free donut, and I was pleasantly surprised! I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy the gluten-free donut, but it was delicious—super light and fluffy. The coffee was amazing too; it ended up being the best we had in the area. Definitely a spot I’ll return to next time I’m around. I just wish there was a Nodo near me —it’d be my regular hangout! Highly recommend it if you’re after great coffee and a sweet treat!
