Great coffee, fast service with a nice atmosphere. Food was just counter food but enjoyable. Quite expensive for what it is though.

What a great experience with Jai at Foster and Black in Fortitude Valley in on Brisbane.

We’d left part of our aeropress back home when traveling from Melbourne and needed our filter coffee hit!

Jai had a great batch brew from Ethiopia on which was tasty and was able to help us with a Hario v60 to get us through the next few days. We also sampled a filter roast from Honduras that had great body and flavour.

I’d seen a Foster and Black at Westfield Doncaster but I’ll certainly be seeking them out!

Thanks Jai for a great experience and a chat about coffee.

Look forward to dropping in when we are next in Brisbane.

Excellent coffee and baked goods. Friendly, efficient service. Nice, clean, modern environment. Good prices. Only loses a star because there is no private seating. You are forced to look at others wherever you decide to sit, which isn't my kind of atmosphere for morning coffee. Also, the chocolate croissant, while very tasty, could use more chocolate. Overall, a great spot for coffee if you are social and like facing or otherwise looking at others while you drink your coffee or eat.

Nice cool cafe with an industrial feel where they have an international roast blend. I purchased the Brazilian and Colombian mix which was smooth and tasty.

I ordered a double shot flat white & it was just strong enough. The coffee had a smooth mellow flavour, which lingered on after the last sip. The brew was presented well in a rather snazzy cup & saucer. Loved the black & white interior & the cute round tables. Service was friendly & fast

Stopped in for a latte made with Colombian coffee, which had a nice flavour but leaned bitter and needed proper sweetness to balance it. The café used panela as the sweetener, but it simply wasn’t enough. Both I and a colleague had to ask for more sugar, and still ended up adding our own back at the office.

Perhaps the underlying issue was the coffee was served warm, not at the proper latte temperature of around 65 to 70°C. A latte should be served around 65 to 70°C, hot enough to bring out the milk’s sweetness and balance the coffee’s bitterness, but this one was closer to 40°C—muted, and bitter.

The venu was great. The coffee was very nice. The sweetness and temperature need work - maybe give customers the option of adding their own sugar? Also - a thermometer in the milk will show you if it is hitting latte temperature.

I have to tell you that it's worth to come here and have the coffee . It's amazing, cappuccino is like how it's supposed to be, creamy with right amount of froth. I will definitely come back every time when I am in town. Good atmosphere.
Happy customer ☺️
