Worst experience with a hotel ever!!
Owners have no ethics. Reneged on a promise to refund a cancelled booking for 2 rooms, even though cancellation was made 20 minutes after booking. They claimed booking was non-refundable though not clear at time of booking. Probably a blessing we didn't stay as we've seen since numerous reviews stating bed bugs are rife in this hotel. Stayed lots of times in Albury with different hotels and never had a bad experience with any except for this one.

Please read reviews before booking. My travelling companions booked the place but they didn't read reviews prior to it. To keep it brief:
1) My parents had to clean their own room (particularly the bathroom) and manage a lingering uncomfortable smell.
2) Other guests in the morning provided feedback to staff noting the lack of cleanliness in the rooms.
3) Good location but another motel (3 star) across the road.
Hope to read improvements.

We were driving home from interstate and decided to stay in Albury as we were getting tired. We came across the Albury Central Motel. Upon arrival, the owner came to the door and was very friendly and helpful. ||||He offered us the last available room for the evening. He personally walked outside, showed us where our room was and where we could park.||||The room was large, clean and well set out. I note a lot of reviews comment on the age and layout of the property. They seem to expect a 5 star resort for a 3 star price. For the price paid, it is a great property. It is not expensive, and considering the high inflation at the moment, it helps to keep costs low.||||The bed was comfortable with spare pillows in the cupboard. It had a large TV and the owner provided milk for our morning cup of tea.||||I would recommend this motel if you are looking for somewhere cheap, and have reasonable expectations given the lower price. If you are looking for a spa resort, this is not the place for you.||||If you are looking for a older, clean building with friendly owners, then perhaps this is the place for you.||||I will be staying here again when we go to Albury.

We stayed here for four nights to be close to our granddaughters Snooker Championship competition at the Commercial Club. The Hotel is nice, but did not have big rooms,it was clean and had good access to the town, well equipped with toaster,microwave,hairdryer,tea making equipment,lots of cutlery and crockery. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was adequate,clean towels were supplied every day. We were offered a continental breakfast at only $2 each! which we utilised...it worked very well! The cost of the stay was nominal and my wife and I were pleased at the entire package. Having stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels this made for an interesting, easy going change of pace.

Looking at the reviews glad we didn't stay. Owner promised refund after booking 2 rooms so went ahead with cancellation 20 minutes after booking. Despite promises no refund received. Owner pocketed our nearly $200 and then would have re-let room. Beware, owner has no ethics. Claims on the website he has a 99.9% satisfaction rate which is indicative of the type of people you're dealing with. Steer well clear! Owner was also extremely rude over the whole affair, probably the worst encounter ever experienced with a hotel owner who usually have some desire to at least give an appearance of customer service.

The beds were very soft for some reason. In our room (no. 6 if you wanted to know) there was a really revolting smell behind the door around the corner. Overall, It was sleep-able for a night so it’s ok.

The place in ran down room stank for weeks after complaining about it took the owner 3 days to come get rid of the smell and no worth any money at all I would recommend it even for the housing people, the owners have no respect for anyone

Room initially seemed okay, but we found a lot of small things wrong with it very quickly. The fridge wasn’t switched on and we didn’t realise until water leaked over the floor the next morning.

Beds were too firm, making it uncomfortable to have a good nights sleep. The linen was stained and dirty.

There wasn’t adequate light in the room, so a lot of it was dark.

There was a lot of mosquitoes in the room, our daughter is allergic to them and got bitten several times overnight and we lost count of the amount we killed.

My fiancée raised a safety issue with a loose PowerPoint cover near where our daughter was sleeping, in which the owner was quick to fix and apologised for it. That’s the only reason why I didn’t give a 1 star rating, as the owner was quick to action on the safety issue.
