We ordered a Black Forest cake to mark my husbands 70th birthday celebration.
What was delivered was initially a shock it was so ordinary ( we thought it must have been a mix up in the order) .. sadly not. The cake was unfinished and undecorated. Comments ranged from disappointment to disgust.
The image of what we ordered and what we received were incomparable.
She later confessed that the image of what the cake would look like was taken from Google 🤔 .. dishonest !
For the cost of over $100 we would have been better off with Woollies.
The restaurant (Many thanks to La Maison) reassured us and went to the trouble of 'fixing' the cake, filling in cream and actually decorating the top.
Contacting later for an explanation was met with complete defensive denial and even sarcasm.
Unprofessional, unfriendly post payment.
I would not risk trusting her (Lana) with a special occasion in the future.
Disappointing, I wish there was an option for 0 stars.
** ** ADDITIONAL .. In regard to your response, which is still inexplicably soaked in denial, the images I have posted are the true and actual of the cake you provided to us at a cost of over $100. Unlike yourself who did provide an image from Google, not your own creation.
The 'decorated' aspect of the cake, for all too see is some chocolate shavings around the edge of the top, which a 5 yo could manage (no offense to 5 yo's).
No I did not claim the cake was damaged, yes I have claimed that it was unfinished/undecorated, I certainly did expect a fully decorated cake set for a special occasion, which could still receive the personal addition of a cake topper and candles. Never at any stage were you asked to provide an undecorated cake.
Can't imagine anyone purchasing the cake illustrated ( a true and correct representation) for over the $100 mark.
I have shown many people photos of your disaster and they in turn show me images of higher standards and efforts by themselves, friends or family.
Like I said in my text when I expressed our disappointment with what you provided, we were genuine customers, paid you well and you responded to me with the 👍 emoji ? The only thing that surpasses your denial and unprofessionalism is your lack of ability ... 👎👎👎.

We contacted Lana at The Cake Cottage to create a cake for my 60th Birthday party. We were so happy with the end result. A two tiered Cake of half chocolate and half vanila, exquisitely decorated and so delicious. We were incredibly impressed with the communication and overall service. We would highly recommend Lana at The Cake Cottage for cakes for any special occasions.

Cute little cafe selling a small and delicious range of cakes. The coffee was very good and the cake even better. It is kid friendly with a small area for kids to play. It is quite spacious and the decor is like english cottage high tea. They also offer high tea which we would like to try next time.

Lovely fresh scones with my coffee (Saturday morning). Great spot to stop for a morning tea before our onward journey to Melbourne. A little tucked away, could probably benefit with a chalk board outside on the footpath.

We had a surprise Scottish themed party for my mum. Lana did an amazing job with the cake, it looked outstanding and tasted even better! Lana was also so easy to communicate with from afar to get the cake sorted for the day! 10/10 would recommend!

Only open Thursday & Friday but well worth the wait.
I had the chocolate strawberry and chocolate caramel macaroons. Delicious! Soft outer and creamy inner. Full of flavour.
My wife had a Lotus biscuit cupcake which she described as moist and flavoursome.

The Cake Cottage saved our Mother’s Day celebration! I luckily got 5 seats at the luxe Mother’s Day High Tea, but had to get it take-away at the last minute. Lana was so kind and flexible - and our beautiful packed High Tea at home was INCREDIBLE! So delicious - thank you beyond words Lana! 🤍🙏🏼

Lana has gone above and beyond in creating and hand deliver an amazing birthday cake! I left the organisation for my wifes milestone birthday cake too late. After a call to Lana at The Cake Cottage, she was able to move her schedule around to fit me in, even offering to hand deliver it to the venue. Not being to creative myself, I left her with free reign to decorate the cake. Lana was even able to change the design halfway through to include a surprise baby gender reveal into it. Everybody at the function was impressed with the quality of the decorated cake, as well as the freshness and flavour. I would give Lana 10 stars if I could.
