A Decadent Dream at Coco Monde Chocolateria

Stepping into Coco Monde Chocolateria is like entering a dessert lover’s daydream—warm, indulgent, and unforgettable. Nestled in a cozy, chocolate-rich haven, this spot is a masterclass in turning simple ingredients into soulful indulgence.

The house-baked Toblerone cheesecake is a showstopper—its creamy richness anchored by the distinctive nougat crunch of Toblerone, finished with a generous drizzle of silky chocolate and paired with velvety vanilla ice cream. It’s the kind of dessert that silences a table with the first bite.

Then there’s the Warm Sticky Date Pudding, a comfort classic elevated to luxury. Laced with deep caramel notes and crowned with house-made caramel sauce, it’s warm, spongy, and beautifully balanced against the coolness of vanilla ice cream.

The Banana Split arrives as a carnival on a plate—vanilla ice cream, gooey chocolate fudge, caramelised hazelnuts, airy whipped cream, delicate chocolate shavings, and the nostalgic charm of house-made marshmallows. It’s playful, indulgent, and surprisingly elegant.

For those in the mood to sip rather than spoon, Coco Monde’s cocktail list is delightfully unorthodox. The Toblerone cocktail blends Frangelico, Baileys, Kahlua, honey, milk chocolate, and pure cream into a dessert in a glass—creamy, nutty, and wickedly smooth. The Cinnamon Fireball, with its punch of cinnamon whiskey and citrusy zing, rounds off the experience with a spicy flourish.

And let’s not forget their authentic hot chocolates, made with real couverture chocolate—rich, glossy, and deeply satisfying. Whether you opt for classic dark, white, or infused variants like peppermint, hazelnut, or chilli, each comes with their signature house-made marshmallows for that perfect melt-in-your-mouth moment.

Coco Monde isn’t just a dessert café—it’s an edible love letter to all things chocolate. Whether you’re craving nostalgia, comfort, or sheer indulgence, this chocolateria delivers with flair and finesse.

Don’t go here whatsoever; it was so bad; paid nearly 23$ for the pancakes and looks what it came like, couldn’t take a picture of the served dish before trynna eat it; we all tasted it and tasted like pancake mix from Wollies; probably 2 strawberries and like the tiniest bit of syrup around it with ice cream and cream. It was disgustingly and disappointing; waste of money all in.

Been here a few times and never felt compelled to leave a review. But, been here in 2013-2014 was amazing, but visiting in the last couple of years has been disappointing.

Food is very over priced and average. And the older woman who I believe owns the place is always unhappy. Maybe it's because I go at nighttime and she's tired from the day? But, it's always been quiet when I'm there and yet they always seem annoyed and flat out.

I really hope this place can make a comeback because it's a very prominent restaurant in Darby st.

Delightful cafe with indulgent vegan options. Highly recommend the vegan crepes served with raspberry sorbet and rich dark chocolate sauce. Atmosphere is elegant, calm and relaxing with antique decor, low lighting and air conditioning. Old world charm with European style interior. Not too noisy or overcrowded as there are three separate dining areas available. A quiet oasis on an otherwise busy street. Convenient hours with brunch menu available all day. Impressive range of fresh gourmet desserts and chocolates available. Friendly staff and fast service.

Everything here always seems to be made with care - and the taste reflects this too. So many delicious deserts, and very cosy to dine here. Would recommend.

PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME šŸ™šŸ¼
You will be left disappointed, angry and missing a big chuck of money.
We waited 10minutes to be seated when there was heaps out the back, they just ignored us as they were busy, until we went to the front.
We then got seated in an extremely cramped room where to the point where we were getting numbed by elbows from the table to the left and behind us.
Then we waited 15 to order then when we tried we got told to move and to another table and they cleared it but didn’t wipe or anything.
Then we had our orders taken by someone who looked 10 and couldn’t hear us or understand (came out three times to see if we wanted one or two eggs with our avocado).
Then we waited AN HOUR AND HALF for even drinks.
We finally got our drinks. The smoothie tasted literally like nothing, the worst drinks I’ve ever had - we shared across the table purely just because we were in disbelief. The drinks we got also were way too expensive to begin with ($11 on the receipt for a hot chocolate)
Then we finally got our food, after our table and the ones we could hear around us complain (after almost a hour and 45minutes later). The smashed avocado was sour and left us feeling sick.
The avocado was dark brown. A chunk of avocado fell out and the entire table asked if it came with mushrooms as it looked exactly like it. Turns out the avocado was just dark brown and even black. Never even knew avocado could be that colour.
The waffles were $29 and only had one tiny one, came stale and burnt. To the point where I needed a steak knife to cut it then I ended up just having a few mouth fulls. I couldn’t even chew it. Even smelt weird.
$24 for chocolate dip. It literally came with FOUR strawberry’s and a small pot of chocolate.
We didn’t even get two hot chocolates after being there for two and a half hours. They were still waiting to make them when we went to go pay.
We told them about the food and showed them photos of the avocado and the left over waffles and the owner got mad and said it’s far from being wrong and flicked his hand up for us to leave.
The waiters looked and acted as though they were 12, the lady at the front couldn’t understand English and tried over charging us and the owner/manager (little bald headed man) was outright rude and blankly didn’t care.
It was the worst dining experience I am my entire family and friends had ever experienced and everyone else around us all we could hear was complaining.
Almost $250 for the worst food, experience and generally concern of our lives. Left feeling sick, disrespected and not okay.
Cannot not recommend this place enough

We went today for the Mother's Day high tea. 2 adults and one child with a separate meal. A present for me from my husband after a previous amazing high tea experience here. Booked as a pre prepared Meal
In summary.. Disastrous and appalling.
Our booking was for 1230.
It took us 15 mins to be seated- was busy.
We then waited til another 30mins for our high tea to be confirmed and the menu given. At this time, we were told, that our first course would be ready in 10 mins.
At this point, we had been unable to order our coffee or daughters meal.
We finally did manage another 15 mins later and to give there due the waitstaff -a young man and lady, were lovely and run off their feet! They were the only two taking orders and cleaning tables
Another 20 mins passes, my daughter revives her hot chocolate, and still no 'first course. Our daughter had finished her drink before the first course then came out. At nearly 2pm.
Our much anticipated savoury plate comprised of a couple of scones a quarter of a Herbert Adams mini sausage roll each (my pinky is bigger than the slice received) a temptation bakes petite quiche each (we received a vegetarian, whilst the table behind received the supposed 'smoked ham ' or rather lorraine- according to the owner. A tiny mushy gyoza dumpling thing and 2 small rock hard toasted croissants cut into thirds with a smidge of ham and cheese. All was ice cold. We starving by this point.
Our tasteless coffees came out halfway through with prompting. This was also required for our daughters pancakes which were 3 pikelets with some chocolate, though at least hers did look handmade.
We then waited til nearly 245 for our second sweet course, and this required promoting and a visit to the counter. Which was met with an angry response form the Asian owner. She then also placed the owner course rather harshly on our table.
The second course was alittle better but not by much. It was two chocolate strawberries a quarter brownie cut in half, some odd marshmallows a tiny chocolate each, 2 other look to be store brought items(1 each) and small slices of fruit. However again we ate it as we were starving and which high teas aren't meant to be huge, this was just nasty and stingy.
We get that it's Mother's Day, it was busy etc but $69.9 per person for high tea, this was a joke. Also it's alittle concerning the amount of what we could observably view and assume we're underage children working behind the scenes in the open kitchen.. And, this place serves alcohol. We finally left this debarcle at 3pm. And during the course of our visit, a number of customers were experiencing the same and heard to remark similarly. I had previously been for a high tea with the previous owners which was amazing as was the breakfast food, and was excited only to leave disgusted and butterly disappointed with a heavy heart at $148 ( Minus the $40.85 booking fee already paid. Also to note there is an EFTPOS surcharge.) It's very obvious the new hands/owner have/are running this business into the ground.
In summary will be be back? No. Save your money and head to the Crystal Brook Kingsley,Autumn rooms, Rydges, cake Boi, Local Custom, Mercure, Tocal, Heritage Gardens, Morpeth, the Hunter Valley, Sydney, South Australia even! Anywhere but Coco Monde.
