We were holidaying, visiting our grandchildren.
The code is awesome, so we came back.
The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere comfortable . We brought the kids for lunch.
We had our puppy and made to feel very welcome.

I am new to the neighbourhood and found this gem close to my home.
I loved the creativity of the menu with a variety of options, including vegetarian.
Also, there is a great selection of teas that I haven't seen in any Australian cafe before.
I ordered the toast with mushrooms, avocado, dukkha and a poached egg. The bread was delicious and everything was cooked to perfection.
Vietnamese coffee here is beautiful!
My friend ordered the Elma's roll with bacon and he found it delicious.

There are plenty of options to sit, including a lateral area surrounded by trees 🌳

The staff was friendly and full of enthusiasm!

Amazing! Three of us went for breakfast, and we all loved it! So many choices with their creative menu, and great flavours. Every other breakfast place we try we compare to Elmas - nothing comes close.

Elmas on Clyde is certified.
The cafe is set in an old portion of a lightbulb factory and is decorated with small reminders of its bright past.
The menu is broad with a few classics and plenty of inspired options if you’re feeling adventurous.
I had avocado and chilli toast and I was not disappointed. The capsaicin built a presence the more I ate while the avocado worked hard to mellow the heat. If you’re a chilli fan I definitely recommend this dish.
The mushroom on toast was also a winner; again with plenty of flavour to go around.
The prices are standard for what you would expect from an artisanal cafe in the city area.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating: we took up a table for 4 and waited some time for our two friends to arrive and there were only smiles from all the staff.
I highly recommend a visit to Elma’s if you’re wanting some great food and friendly service.

Came on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Came based on the good reviews.

Pros
1. Broad menu with interesting dishes
2. Courtyard under big gum trees
3. Plenty of parking

Cons
1. The wait. We were told that it would be 30 minutes food, which we accepted. It took 70 minutes.
2. Menu. When we got our food after 70 minutes, we were told that there are two "brekky rolls" despite no clarification made by staff at the time of ordering. This meant that a bacon and egg roll (aka the other "brekky roll") took 70 minutes to make.
3. The service. Tables were identified based on what someone was wearing when the order was made or the name. No table numbers. This meant that customers had to identify if a particular set of food/drink was theirs when it was brought to them. Food could do three tables before reaching the (hopefully) right person.
4. At the 60 minutes mark, on querying why our food had not arrived, we were informed that we couldn't get a refund because the Internet was down. Instead we were given an almond croissant. When we got our food at 70 minutes and had to contend with the wrong food, we miraculously got one, a cash one, because they still couldn't make the cash register to work as expected.
5. On top of everything, they closed early at about 10.30, whilst we were still waiting for the food. This would just lead to a rushed experience.

TLDR: We had an atrocious experience that spoiled our morning. All we got was a cold almond croissant.

EDIT (1/2023): Consistency is clearly a highlight. Thought we would jump in for something quick. Asked how long it would take, 15 minutes we were told, 30 minutes it took and only after going to the counter to clarify the matter. We did eventually get our food, after drinks were finished. Food tasted OK, but service was too unreliable to come back again.

TLDR: If you absolutely have to come here for any food other than pastries, bring a book or a someone to talk to for a while whilst waiting for your food.

Dropped in for breakfast and coffee. Wow, the bacon and egg roll is EPIC! I added Halloumi to mine, which was beautifully cooked. The coffee definitely hit the spot too. Strong but not bitter. The outside seating was a nice touch too. Will be back!

The food is so flavoursome and filling and has more variety than most cafes now.
The beverage options vary with plenty of coffee and chai/tea options as well as wines and beers.
The staff are so friendly and kind.
The atmosphere is comfortable and they’ve done an amazing job with references to the lamp works history of the place. My grandma used to work there and loves the cafe.
