Visited the place on a Wednesday mid morning. Cozy place with nice decor and ambience.

Food is great. Service staff were attentive and friendly.

Ordered the Beef Sanga and changed the Turkish bread to Sourdough. Caramelized onions adds a nice touch of sweetness to the savory bacon and tangy tomato base.

Great place by the Roundhouse. Highly recommended.

Great cafe for early breakfast all the way to lunch!

I've never had a bacon benedict before! Coffee was also great!

I'm used to eating sourdough bread with brunch food and it's always chewy and tough.

But I think did they used artisan bread?

It was a pleasant suprise when I bit into the slice of bread that was so crispy and soft. Loved it.

Chalkys Espresso Bar is easily one of my favourite spots in Fremantle. The coffee is consistently excellent – smooth, rich, and brewed to perfection every time. You can tell they really care about quality, using top-notch beans and skilled baristas.

The food menu is just as impressive. I had the chalkys chilli and my friend ordered the huevos ranchereos – both were delicious and beautifully presented. They also have great vegan options, which is a big plus. Everything feels fresh, flavourful, and thoughtfully put together.

The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, perfect whether you’re catching up with friends, working on your laptop, or just enjoying a solo coffee break. The building’s charm and the friendly staff make the experience even better.

If you’re in Freo and love good coffee and food, you need to try Chalkys. Highly recommend!

Had breakfast here before heading to Rottnest island. The staff were all very friendly, coffee was great and Korean chilli crab was next level. I only waited 5min for the coffee and 10min for the food. Loved it and highly recommended.

Chalkys Expresso Bar is an absolute gem in the heart of Fremantle by the round house! The chilli scrambled eggs were bursting with flavour — perfectly balanced heat, silky texture and cooked to perfection. The sambalak scrambled tofu was next level — bold, rich and hands down a true piece of art not just cooking. Every bite felt crafted with care and creativity. And to top it all off, I had possibly the best coffee I’ve ever had. Smooth, strong, and expertly made. Great vibes, friendly staff and unforgettable food. I’ll be back!

The food was fine. They have all the breakfast standards like eggs benny, full breakie, avo toast etc. My partner had the huevos rancheros but it wasn’t huevos rancheros it was baked eggs with a tomato sauce and beans — nothing Mexican flavoured about it. The focaccia it came with was weak. Unexpected in a nation of great bread! The seeded sour dough that came with my avo toast also didn’t taste like sour dough though the seeds were nice. Coffee was good and service was super friendly and helpful. We wanted to buy some coffee beans but they didn’t have less than a kilo but kindly pointed us in the right direction for another shop down the way that could get us what we needed. Appreciate that thoughtfulness a lot.
