Staff at the bar were very friendly and responsive. Happy to chat. The meal we had was excellent (lamb for two). Well presented, outstanding flavour and exceptional value for money. Far outweighed our expectations...goog job chef!!! A pleasant surprise and would come again. All good.

The location of the Local Hotel is perfect, a short walk to South Beach and surrounded by awesome little cafés. The shared bathrooms were clean and cozy. Be sure to bring earplugs or headphones as on AFL nights and weekends it tends to get quite loud, not overly loud but good to know. The staff everywhere were super kind and very willing to help. Definitely will stay here again.

the food here is absolutely scrumptious and you can tell it’s made with quality ingredients. I go for the burger most times I come here because it’s probably the best burger I’ve ever tasted, however the other dishes are also delicious too! love this place.

What a smashing place! Warm reception and shown to our rooms. Good choice of beers all kept very well. Outstanding dinner - two of us shared the lamb rump & veggies (for 2 persons) and another had steak. All cooked perfectly and served with a smile. There were shared bathroom and toilet facilities - made clear in advance - in very good nick. I loved my room with its stag’s head, four-poster bed and good air con.

I love the beautiful old building, the staff are the best, so friendly and helpful. The Local has a fantastic location, great food and atmosphere. The rooms are gorgeous and the beds and pillows are comfy. There is so much to do around South Fremantle, including beaches, shopping, cafes and boutiques. It is a good walk into Fremantle or you can jump on a local bus. I am looking forward to my next solo getaway

The local has been a long time favourite of mine . The best staff in freo , always have a smile and a hello . Great venue , beautiful building , food has become a bit average lately , guinness not great either , menu needs sprucing up , still my favourite pub in freo

Around 8 years ago I scored The Local 5 stars, and have come here many times since - but today I've had to update this as the food has gone way down-hill.

We visited on a busy Sunday night and ordered the steak sandwich and pan fried gnocchi. The steak sandwich was nothing special and the potatoes that came with it were uninspiring, however the gnocchi I had to return to the kitchen. It wasn't pan fried, but very firm boiled gnocchi, served in a capsicum and pumpkin base sauce (capsicum as an ingredient was not mentioned at all on the menu). The most disappointing thing is after I returned the dish to the kitchen the waiter did not come back to offer a refund, nor did the chef come out to speak with me.

We requested a refund at the end of the meal and the waiter was happy to accommodate, but all in all, a huge slide in quality and service standards.

The Local have been so awesome for so long that I'll come back and give them another try sometime and hopefully they will have resolved the food issues, but I'll be sticking to The Norfolk for awhile before that happens...

Really friendly staff and gorgeous room. Would never normally choose to stay somewhere where you had to share a bathroom but that was painless. There are lots of areas to relax in if you don't feel like being part of the Freo vibe. Really enjoyed my stay.
