The Somerville at UWA is a perfect spot for an outdoor cinema experience. Surrounded by gorgeous pine trees, it offers a unique and serene atmosphere for watching films under the stars.

The venue is well-organized, with plenty of picnic areas, delicious pizzas, and the flexibility to bring your own food and drinks. Their movie lineup features an excellent selection of international festival films, so it’s worth checking the schedule online to find something that suits your taste.

I’d suggest bringing a cushion and a blanket because it can get a bit chilly and breezy at night. Make sure to hit the bathroom before the movie starts as the seating isn’t tiered, so walking around can block people’s view.

Overall, the combination of great films, a stunning setting, and a cozy outdoor vibe makes this a must-visit 🙂

The venue is very special, with a romantic feel. The pizzas are delicious and it’s BYO also, which is nice. You can have a picnic on the lawn areas before sitting down for the movie. The chairs, however, are incredibly uncomfortable. There are pillows, but they run out and in any case won’t fix the chair issues.

Unfortunately Perth seems to have found out about it, and it sells out. Also you need to arrive early for a seat of choice. We got there at 6.15 and most seats were taken. Movie starts at 8, but people picnic on the grass, drink wine, meet friends.

What a beautiful movie experience, from the food option to the supplied seating, and the best part, being surrounded by nature! I could not think of a better place to catch a movie on a trip to Perth. Though be warned there’s serious movie watchers in the audience so when the movie starts be sure to quiet down, we got a lot of 🤫 notions through.

Fair warning, show up early because the bar and the pizza area closes before the movie starts. There’s so many pizza options and plenty of other choices for any time of foodie, it’s expensive but split with friends and it works. They also close the areas outside but connected to the cinema before the screening, where you can sit before the movie so move inside before the start time and take your seats. It’s also a good reason to get in early and grab a limited and sort after bean bag or a pillow out of the many tubs.

Overall the movie was good but the venue was the highlight, who would have thought this is all on a university campus! Give back to the indie film community, and support the university by spending your next night out here 🎥🍿

Somerville outdoor Cinemas sponsored by Lotterywest is a beautiful spot to go and see an outdoor movie. Outdoor chairs are provided and also cushions should you need them and there are also being bags available. It is a beautiful setting set amongst lovely large trees and lots of white fairy lights through the trees. There are a few few and drink outlets such as Charlie's pizza and more including coffee or drinks and alcohol available. You can also take your own small chairs if you want to sit on the side on the astro turf . You can BYO your own drink including alcohol and have a picnic in the specially designed areas with picnic tables and chairs too before the movie starts. Gates open at 6 p.m. so you have to be early to score a good position / seat. Highly recommend to go to Somerville outdoor Cinemas for your next movie and enjoy it outdoors in a beautiful setting.
