On my drive down to Margaret River for an overnight stay at a cottage near the town, I got a phone call from the owners who told me there was a mistake with my booking and in fact they had no accommodation available that night.|| Quelle horreurl What do I do?|| I ring Margaret River Tourist Centre and ask if they can find me comfortable accommodation near town that is in a quiet location and surrounded by nature…and is definitely available for tonight! And they did!||A couple of hours later I parked in the bush block of the Margaret River Bed and Breakfast and walked up to the impressive, glass fronted entrance hall of a beautifully designed building, as bird calls and the smell of rain-energised trees filled the air. Life can sometimes take us on unexpected and wonderful surprises and here was one of them!||I changed into complementary indoor shoes and had a wander around, marvelling at the high beamed ceiling of the enormous guest lounge. Crafted wooden furniture, elegant armchairs and sofas, a huge brick fireplace, an eclectic collection of books in a bookcase to die for! Tables were adorned with beautiful fresh flower arrangements. And the French windows led out to a delightful garden patio with BBQ and outdoor seating. I sat and watched New Holland honeyeaters and Silvereyes sipping nectar from a cute home made bottle dispenser hanging near the BBQ. ||Time to check out my room. I was booked into the Redgate Room. It was spacious with a very comfortable queen sized bed fitted with luxurious bedding and electric blanket. A good-sized TV with free Netflix and the usual TV channels. (A pity that the air conditioner/ heating unit was slightly noisy but I’m sure a service is all it needs to quieten it down! And this really was the only thing I could find fault with in my stay here!) French windows lead out to a lovely garden space and seating. The bathroom area was sublime! A large spa with a jar of home made bath salts and champagne glasses at the ready! Fully stocked bathroom…shampoos, soaps, conditioners, room slippers, hairdryer, towels and more! A great shower. |Oh…and another lovely fresh floral arrangement on the sink. So many of these human touches make a real difference to the experience of staying here. ||And the two humans behind it all are Pam and Dirk! A lovely couple who served me a delicious breakfast (with fantastic espresso coffee) in the dining area of the lounge. And who gave me advice on the best spot to go on a fabulous nearby nature walk. And who sold me honey from their hives. And who run a paradise called the Margaret River Bed and Breakfast.|| I’ll be back!

Everything was perfect. Dirk was so friendly and he nicely told us where to explore. Cute dogs in the house, clean and spacious room, close to nature and we saw kangaroo at night time.
Exceptional travel experience. Dirk served us homemade bread for breakfast, it was delicious with local jams and homemade honey.

Margaret River BnB is the perfect place to stay; no need to look at anything else.|The location is so quiet and restful, yet close to town and the beach. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the ensuites are luxurious, with a spa and large shower. Everything is so clean. The continental breakfast is tasty and filling, with freshly baked bread, and honey from their own hives, as well as jams from the local berry farm. The dining/living room is enormous, and the high, raking ceilings give a lovely open feel. The BnB is surrounded by lovely gardens and dense bush, and frequented by birdlife. The hosts, Dirk and Pam, are very hospitable and very friendly. They value their clientele, going the extra mile. Dirk has a vast knowledge of the area and offers to help you discover the best places to visit, according to your interests.

Very comfortable and private accommodations and a gregarious host. Dirk made us feel at home and was a wealth of local knowledge. Plus he gathers honey made from the many flowering plants. Close to many natural attractions and a cute town just down the road!

If you are searching for accommodation in the centre of town, with everything on your doorstep and expecting the hosts to babysit you… stop reading this and look elsewhere as this accommodation won’t suit you at all. If, however, you are searching for tranquility in the bush, yet still fairly close to the beach, Margaret River and the vineyards…and with a degree of autonomy, then this is for you. ||It is only about 2/3 kms from MR town centre, with all of its restaurants, ice cream parlours etc etc yet it feels so much further away, such is the tranquility of this place. The instructions for entry were easily identifiable on the front door - it’s left open generally! - very easy to find, plenty of parking and so very quiet. |The bed was super comfy, the room was a decent size and there was plenty of hot water. |Detailed instructions were left in the room, and the WiFi was good. ||Breakfast was all laid out from 8am - great selection - easy to process and so lovely to be able to eat in the garden. ||The hosts - Pam and Dirk - are helpful and knowledgeable without being intrusive. Really kind people. Thank you for your recommendations and map. |. |So… in short… if you want quiet, remote, close to nature in a beautiful setting YET still able to access the bars and restaurants this is possibly the place for you. Kind hosts, lovely dogs, stunning garden. What’s not to like?
