Denmark is a very enjoyable locality, we arrived to exceptionally good spring weather, and there are lots of outdoor activities to enjoy. Most of Denmark is on the side of hill, as is the Ark, up a long steep driveway, and whilst seemingly located close to a large body of water, there seemed no easy pedestrian access to same. First impressions matter and the first thing on arrival is a very untidy owners carport / shed. We had booked “Due South” which is first on the right, located directly under owner / manager A-frame residence - hence some audible footsteps through the ceiling, though they were very quiet. “The Yurt” is a little further uphill, we did not inspect. The architecture and construction is extra-ordinary, perched on a rocky outcrop, and the rocks feature spectacularly indoors! Entrance via some gravel and carpet - lucky it was not wet, would be messy. The accommodation is very spacious, large windows (need a good clean), and well appointed and provisioned with good heating /cooling. However, the seating was not arranged to enjoy the views from indoors, and the outdoor seating was basic and tired. There was some litter and builders leftovers within our field of view from indoors. The claw bath and shower screen arrangement, and the lack of drapes on most windows, would be challenging for some. A general tidy of the approach and entrance, and clean the windows, would be wise.

Ark of Denmark (Ark) is 5 mins drive from town or in coffee terms, 5 mins from a decent coffee and breaky at Mrs Jones!
At the Ark you will find the Due South and Yurt properties. Our 2nd stay in the Due South and it does not disappoint.

Unique, rustic, cosy ‘self catering’ accomodation that is built into and raises up amongst the wonderful tall karri trees and large prominent grey granite rocks the latter of which the property is literally built around, a very romantic setting it has to be said.

We stay over during the summer months however, those staying in winter or thereabouts beware of the Denmark chill if coming from warmer climates! That said there is a wood burner and warm furnishings provided to wrap up warm and snuggle in with (and of course enjoy a nice glass of local red) as you enjoy the elevated view of the magical karri trees gently blowing outside with glimpses down to the inlet.

Don’t expect 5 star luxury but do expect to create ever lasting, deep romantic memories in this soulful place. My favourite however is the freestanding bath! See pic attached (does not do it justice!) Leave me in there with a few bubbles, some Ziggy Alberts playing and a small glass of the good stuff... love it ❤️

Due South, one of the Ark's accommodations, is a spacious and well-equipped suite of open-plan rooms that flow into each other. Beautiful timberwork, unique construction, and abundant light make this a delightful place to stay. Surrounded by majestic karri trees, you feel like you're floating in the forest above the inlet. Yet it's only a few minutes drive from the town and a brief walk to the water's edge. ||The facilities are excellent, as are the provisions - everything you need is on hand.||Our stay was a pleasure.

We stayed at The Yurt for 3 nights and had the most wonderful and memorable time here. It is such a cosy place, full of rustic charm and well decorated with thoughtful touches throughout the place. The owners Lloyd and Donna were warm and welcoming, and very helpful with their suggestions of where to go and what to do in the area. ||||The place is probably best suited for a couple or a small family of three (but not ideal for a family with a toddler as the steps leading upstairs have big gaps and is quite steep). The downstairs area comprises of the living area with a fireplace, which we absolutely loved as it kept the place warm throughout including the upper level where the bedroom is; the kitchen is charming and rustic, and has large windows with views of the bush and the birds.||||The bathroom is also downstairs and is really quaint, except that it is freezing cold in there and could probably do with a heater, and some hooks would be useful too as there is only one towel holder. ||||The bedroom is on the upper level and is very spacious and has a queen bed, which is fairly comfortable but a little too soft and springy for my liking as I personally prefer a firmer mattress with good support. We were also provided with a comfortable foldaway mattress for our child. It would be good if they look into a sofa bed instead though.||||The room is well thought out and beautiful decorated, and has a sofa with lots of cushions, throw rugs, a guitar and bookcase full of novels, magazines and non-fiction books. There is also a small, charming balcony where you can sip your morning coffee or tea, whilst enjoying the view and watching the birds.||||What we loved:||- The fireplace ||- Complimentary loaf of freshly baked bread, butter, little packets of honey, marmalade and Vegemite, and a small carton of fresh milk||- Clean and cosy||- Charli the friendly Kelpie||- Convenient location close to Denmark town, about 10 minutes away

My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of staying two nights at this amazing place! Every thing you could possibly need was here.Loved the birds,tree's the Arc was so comforting and i fell in love with the whole building and the wonderful natural views out of every window. Loved the freshly baked loaf that awaited us on the beautiful wooden kitchen bench. We never saw the owners as they allow you privacy, which was lovely. We were greeted by their dog and played ball with her now and then, which was nice as we love our dogs and had left them behind.All in all this is the most refreshing and beautiful place to stay. We will be back, think we will try out the studio accommodation next time. 🙂

The yurt was such a beautiful little getaway! Surrounded by forest and nature, it was hard to believe that the ark is only about 5 minutes from town. My partner and I truly enjoyed our stay and will be back!

We spent the last 4 nights staying in "the yurt" at the Ark of Denmark and what a wonderful week it has been. The chalet has everything you need for a relaxing winter getaway for 2 (and of course your furry friend). The hosts are so friendly and helpful, the surrounds incredibly peaceful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Such a unique place to stay. Set amidst the beautiful trees surrounded by nature.
Fabulous set up and being dog friendly is a massive bonus!
