John and the team at Rivendell Farm Estate were amazing leading up to and throughout our stay.

The cottage was beautiful and had all the amenities for a private romantic getaway. The animals on the property were really friendly and John was flexible in arranging a time to feed them.

We highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway or even just to escape Melbourne for the weekend.

We had the most magical stay at Bag end at Rivendell farm estate. From the moment we arrived we felt the beauty of the place. The accomodation was stunning, every small detail had been thought of and had everything we could need for a mini getaway. The hot tub was perfect for an evening relax and made that much better by the amazing views. John and his partner were so accommodating and welcomed us to feed and meet the animals on the farm, which was such a highlight. We were welcome to walk around the property and take in the splendor, then wander back to the privacy of bag end. I could not recommend this place more, do yourself a favour and go and stay here, it will not disappoint. We hope to come back and enjoy the wonders again! One of the best hosts and accomodation we have experienced.

We celebrated our laid-back wedding reception at Rivendell with 90+ guests. The day was exceptional! John was so friendly to work with and diligently sought to fulfil our vision for the day. He was very accomodating in allowing us to set up the area as we desired, bringing our own lounges and rugs. Rivendell offered a range of furniture to hire, and met all our needs. Our guests raved about how beautiful and special the venue was. It truly is gorgeous. Highly recommend for a wide range of celebrations and events. Thanks John!

Rivendell Farm Estate is an exceptionally beautiful venue for weddings and special events. I consider myself very fortunate to have officiated several weddings in this gorgeous, rather dreamy garden and meticulously maintained surrounds and always drive away feeling how perfect the day has been. The owners are welcoming and professional to work with and overall I could not recommend their services highly enough. From the sweeping entry driveway overlooking the surrounding valley to the idyllic gardens surrounding the home, it is a wonderful and very special place. I just love it there.

I was travelling with a colleague for work in East Gippsland. This place was a little off the beaten track but, wow, was it worth it. One of the most stunning outlooks I’ve ever seen, the Tambo River valley is beautiful and so are the manicured gardens. I completely understand the name. Our rooms were tastefully decorated and the owners made us feel like family without imposing throughout our stay.

Driving from Melbourne, we arrived a bit late and Annette gave me easy directions while explaining our self check-in. We got a delightful surprise on arrival with a warm room and a delicious charcuterie board and a bottle of wine from Josh, the chef who runs a boutique catering business, La Matanza - what a treat! (see the picture)

We were warmly invited to join the family for breakfast, or have it in our room. We opted to be social and found that Josh made his own sourdough bread, butter, cured meats and whole lot of other delicious stuff. I can see foodies loving this experience.

Looked up the place further and found that this is the number 1 farm stay in Australia. Well worth it and chuffed we stayed here. Easy to recommend!! Thanks Annette, Peter & Josh.

A beautiful farm stay that will exceed your expectations. We were lucky enough to enjoy Rivendell Farm Estate on a Monday and Tuesday night. Accommodation offering is pure luxury, every detail considered. Highlights were the open fire, cedar hot tub, farm tour, and simply enjoying the surrounds. Hosts were more than accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant time, which we did. Attractions aplenty are close by and the drive to each is easy and beautiful on the open country roads. When planning your trip to Rivendell, allow time to just enjoy the farm and be present in the moment. It has a bbq and kitchen and there is no reason to leave, we didn’t want to. It’s perfection. Thank you - we’ll be back.

We had an amazing stay at Rivendell Estate (Bag end cottage). The views were absolutely stunning, the accommodation cosy, clean & full of character & the hot tub “hot”. Great chance to watch the sunrise, star gaze from the hot tub & generally unwind. Josh was a great host, topped it off with fresh sourdough & cultured butter for our last morning. Absolutely recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer.
