We had a very pleasant one-night stay at Rydges. The property appeared to have had a recent refurbishment; the lobby and restaurant were modern and up to date, rooms were bright and airy, and everything was functional. The beds were standout; seemingly quite new they were soft and comfortable, and pillows were sturdy and supportive. The staff member at check-in was fantastic, and provided me with a pedestal fan for our room at my request. While a fairly basic offering, all room facilities were clean & worked. Our room had a nice view of the bay. The open-air parking lot with quite a high daily fee is unfortunate, and the rooms do lack a safe. Being winter, we didn't have the opportunity to test the (outdoor) pool & facilities. A budget-friendly, updated hotel with comfortable beds, good for a short stay.

The hotel offers basic amenities, but the overall experience could definitely be improved. The room felt quite dusty, and the bathroom had noticeable mould, making it clear that the rooms are overdue for refurbishment.The full continental breakfast was decent — the eggs cooked to order were a nice touch, though it would have been even better if mushrooms were included as an option.Parking was quite expensive at $27 per night, but fortunately, since we stayed over the public holidays, we were able to park on the street for free without any restrictions.Overall, a stayable option if you’re not too fussy, but there’s plenty of room for improvement.

What a lovely room. Very spacious and comfortable and a great bathroom. Very well located within a short walk of Kardinia Park. Great sleep and enjoyed the hotel restaurant too.||The reception is interesting being like a self-contained box in the middle of the ground floor.

The room was comfortable and spacious, although the bathroom was quite small. The room however lacked a few things. There was no milk for tea or coffee, no in room information about services available. The heating in the room was broken, but we were supplied with a small fan heater on request. Also no streaming services on the TV, only normal free to air TV, no Netflix or anything which I have never struck before. Room service was pretty ordinary but tasted okay, definitely wasn't presented very well.

The staff were very nice and helpful when we needed anything.

Positives. Friendly and helpful staff. Car parking. The view from our window.
Negatives. Only one comfy chair in the room there's two if us. Had to get more milk tea and coffee only enough for one. No coffee mugs . Telephone didn't work. Dirty towels on arrival had to get fresh ones. Bed comfortable and clean. Flaking ceiling in bathroom and dirty doors at the bottom also slimy shower floor. Meal in the evening was such a let down with my tiger prawns being shrimps. Apology only. Jan and Maru

Room was terrible. Bed uncomfortable. Air con unit was rattling whenever turned on. Bathroom was so small. Horrible water pressure and the shower is so out dated. No safe in room, fridge didn’t work. TV is outdated with no smart TV.

“Private car park” is a car park behind boom gates that cost $27 a night ($20 for me as a nice gesture) no security aside from security cameras. Any person can walk and access this carpark which means you cannot leave anything in your car with value.

Room had a weird smell and bathroom ceiling was scaling.

Overall overpriced 3 star hotel. Would not recommend.

The carpet was very dusty!
The bed was too soft.
The air con could not be changed much.
The room stunk.
The mirrors were dirty. Had to be clean before being able to put my make up on.
The toilet was too close to the shower glass.
Bathroom way too small.

I stayed here while awaiting the birth of my grandson at St J of G next door. My son booked 4 nights but on arriving I found it didn’t have an accessible bathroom & this was quickly fixed for me, which was appreciated. I found everyone from the reception staff to the breakfast crew were exceptionally helpful & gracious. The decor in the room was a bit dated, but more importantly, it was clean , comfortable & spacious, so I was very happy. I highly recommend this hotel & would stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks everyone!
