We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Penghana. Two couples travelling together, we each had an ensuite room. The rooms were spacious, warm, well appointed and very comfortable with so much attention to detail - a full suite of towels - including a nice big bath sheet which you don’t usually get in most accommodation. Breakfasts were delicious, I felt very spoilt rocking up to an elegantly laid out dining room and placing my order. The Bircher and marmalade were awesome and cooked breakfast was the perfect way to start the day. Nothing seemed too much trouble in this grand old house. The hosts were very attentive, knowledgeable and always ready and willing to offer suggestions, hear about your day and fill you in on their local knowledge and the history of the area. Karen and Steve, thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed at Penghana B & B for 3 incredible nights while visiting Queenstown. Our wonderful hosts, Steve and Karen became instant friends as soon as we walked through the magnificent front door of this historic property. Our stay there was the highlight of our two week tour of Tasmania. Steve and Karen certainly know how to make guests feel so welcome and look after you beyond all expectations, including the superb cooked breakfast and coffee each morning in the dining room. We would certainly recommend a stay here while in Queenstown.

Penghana B&B is a treasure. Karen & Steve are warm, welcoming & personable hosts. The house is magnificent & our room for 2 nights, the Owen room overlooking Mt Owen was sensational. Spacious, very well appointed with generous little touches including robes, slippers, home made cake on arrival, tea, coffee & biscuits. The silver service breakfast was sensationally prepared to order by Steve who excelled. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & the guidance Karen & Steve offered us. A fabulous base from which to explore Tasmania's gorgeous West coast. Thank you, Lee & Neil

We recently stayed at Penghana B&B which can only be described as perfect! ||The historic nature and presence of this grand house built in 1898 is simply stunning. The location of this residence overlooking Queenstown is magnificent. It’s hard to fathom how a house of this grandeur could have ever been built in such a harsh and isolated environment if it were not for the mining boom during this period.||Karen and Steve are such marvellous hosts. We were made to feel very welcome from the first greeting. The introduction to the residence with a tour set the scene for a great stay. The rooms and facilities were excellent. ||Karen’s design touches have augmented the appeal of Penghana with meticulous attention to detail throughout the residence. The black and white photos throughout the residence show case the history of the area. Steve's amazing knowledge of the area, his extensive breakfast coupled with a fascinating narration of the history of Queenstown and of the Penghana mansion, added to the depth and warmth of a very enjoyable stay.||If you’re planning to stay in Queenstown, do yourself a favour and make a plan to stay in a grand Queen Anne Federation style residence.

Absolutely perfect stay. Historic building beautifully and compassionately renovated and maintained. Karen and Steve are very experienced hosts and it showed in all aspects of the stay. Lovely and thoughtful touches all the way through our visit. Our room was beautiful and spacious, and we had access to a guest lounge for tea, coffee or a port and even a microwave and mini kitchen. We were thoroughly spoilt from the delicious breakfast, through to advising us on the many things to do in Queenstown and even booking our tours and dinners at local restaurants. Steve and Karen were the standout hosts of our Tasmanian trip and we look forward to staying with them again.

My husband and I stayed here for a night, and we loved the place.||It has such rich character to it. We loved the green garden, the ballroom is a mini museum containing well-documented history of the house, the house has soo many books and novels and games to keep you occupied.||The Lyell room we slept in had so much detail to it - 1 theme color, warm micro flannel bed sheets, well stocked bathroom amenities etc..||The silver service at breakfast was personalised for each of us and very tasty too!||But all this wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing hosts we had who catered for our needs from the time we arrived to the time we left. ||Our only regret was we left too early

Thanks to Steve & Karen for adding to our holiday experience, fountains of local knowledge & history. Nothing was ever too much trouble, whether it be booking a place to eat in advance, lift back if we needed, or tips on local places to visit. Hopefully we’ll come back when weather is warmer sometime
