What a wonderful gem of a place. As a photographer I was given countless wonderful opportunities here. This would also make a great location for a portrait or wedding photo shoot. So many photo opportunities. Most of the buildings are fully furnished and have interesting shops too. Pro Tip - If you are bringing your camera a tripod or monopod would be an asset for indoor shots.

Nice place which gives an insight about what has made Inverell the place it is today, mining and farming.

I really enjoyed the photography exhibit; cameras, film projectors, dark room equipment, photographs, etc.

Sadly, as with many of these historic villages the displays have withered and become dated. The interactive features have stopped working or have been turned off. This village is still worth a visit, if you enjoy a self paced walkthrough and being your own guide.

An amazing museum run by friendly volunteers who treasure the place and maintain it well. It has been set up to accurately reflect the old days. A must visit if you are going thru Inverell. Allow plenty of time as the place is huge, there is so much to see.

Geoff and Denise are terrific caretakers and Geoff has heaps of stories about Inverell and its history.
We spent 3.5 hours exploring the village which is a lot bigger and had way more exhibits than expected.
You really get a strong feel for the history of the district and how people lived in the pioneering days... thoroughly enjoyed it even sitting by the small lake having lunch and watching the ducks and kingfishers.

Pet friendly. Lovely place and great people who look after it. We had a dig around, cheap as $10. Half hour we and found 11 sapphires. Didn't expect that, so we were very happy. And there is so much to look at. Nice big pond and plenty of seats in the shade.
