Firstly, Ignore any negative comments you might read about Sheralee Tourist Caravan Park! Specifically, this park is just as secure and safe as any other.
This is a lovely (yes, a little old) caravan park. But you get exactly what you need from a tidy and well run park that is so close to Sydney city.
For the price, I have stayed at many other places that offer much less.
It's clean, neat, has both a small and large kitchen area, lounge room with TV and great hot water showers. Unlike many other parks, the toilets and showers are cleaned well and frequently.
Appliances in the kitchens as well as the BBQ all work and are in good condition.
There are lots of powered sites which can be booked in advance but only a few unpowered sites. If you need an unpowered site, you cannot book and are allocated on who arrives first....so if you arrive late in the afternoon, be warned, there might not be space (but you can always pay a few extra $ and get a powered sites for the night.
I highly recommend!!

We stayed on a powered site for 3 nights and it was the perfect location for visiting Sydney! 20 minutes walk in a pretty much straight line to the train station then a quick train into the city. Clean toilets, good access to laundry services too, they even had laundry detergent for us to use.

At the campsite in Sydney, we stayed for 40$ a night unpowered. Not big spaces but that is alright as you only stay here when you are going to explore Sydney. 15/20 minute walk in a straight line to the station. 30/40 minutes with the train to the city centre. 2 toilet blocks, hot showers and enough washing machines. Recommend it to stay here if you have a car/motorhome and want to explore Sydney.

For a campground in Sydney, this place is incredibly affordable. We stayed on an unpowered site in a tent for just $40 per night.

Overall impression:
Great location — around 15 minutes’ walk to the nearest station and close to the airport.

Facilities:
The kitchen is well-equipped with gas stoves, ovens, microwaves, fridges, kettles, and toasters.
There are plenty of indoor and outdoor areas around the kitchen to sit, rest, or eat.
Toilets and showers are abundant, but many have weak water pressure, lukewarm water, or overly high water-saving taps that are hard to use — especially for shorter people. Some showers also operate on a 5-minute timer, which feels very rushed if you don’t shower quickly.

Laundry:
Laundry facilities are solid — washers and dryers operate on $1 coins (around $4 per cycle). Wash time is about 35 minutes, and there’s a good amount of space for air-drying clothes.

Cleanliness:
The amenities are cleaned daily. However, if someone is using the facilities during the cleaning time, staff tend to skip cleaning that area — which raises the question: what if that happens every day?

One downside:
Although we stayed in a tent, staff still asked us to move our tent because the grass underneath was “dying.” We understand this kind of policy for caravans or campervans, but relocating a whole tent setup — with gear — is not easy and felt a bit unreasonable.

Note for unpowered site users:
The soil is extremely loose — whether it’s dry or wet — so it’s difficult to secure tent pegs properly. If you’re near the small gate area, the ground is also noticeably sloped, and you may find yourself rolling around while sleeping.

As winter approaches, the lukewarm water becomes a real issue for people who shower at night — you’ll be shivering while trying to clean up. There’s no heat lamp in the bathrooms either, making showers quite unpleasant in cold weather.

In summary:
If you’re not staying during winter, this could be a very comfortable and affordable spot. Just be aware that over 80% of the residents here are permanent, so the park feels more like a small local community than a traditional campground.

We stayed 3 nights to explore Sydney. We asked for a site away from other dogs or at the very end because we had trouble with on of our dogs who got recently attacked. The receptionist gave us a good spot for my pup at the very end so I’m thankful for that! But I overheard another receptionist talking very rude to other customers who couldn’t figure out how to open their rooftop tent on their unpowered site because of the very small sites so they had tu upgrade to power and we arrived after the Easter holidays but still had to pay holidays prices so I’m sorry for them. The amenities where quit dirty and the motion detector in one of the women showers doesn’t work - I learned that the hard way had no light half way through my shower very uncomfortable. WiFi is not really available you get 1 coupon for only one device for 1 h for free after that you have to pay for every other hour. We payed 60$ per night you should think you’ll get WiFi there but I wasn’t working on our site anyways just close to the reception. And the powered sites are very small as well as far as I could see all sites are very small but that might be due to the location. There is a off leash beach very close by and you’re very close to the centrum so that’s a plus.

We stayed to nights in our 6 berth motorhome. We received great help to find a spot large enough to park the motorhome. The public transport into CBD was good, even until late at night. The toilets and stay
showers were clean and good. Thank you for letting us stay here!
