Have just spent 2 nights and will absolutely recommend this accommodation. The food and wine in the dining room was excellent, and the wait staff lovely. The situation, views, garden and green space are lovely. Rooms warm and comfy, with my only downside being the sounds from the bathroom in the next room being heard, and visa Versa no doubt. The proximity to the Dorrigo National Park is perfect. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would come back again.

Just spent a wonderful few days at Lookout Mountain Retreat and stayed with a few friends celebrating a birthday. We had a fantastic stay, the accomodation is great value and the location is superb. The added bonus of the deer was great for kids. The hosts Gabrielle and Craig were so helpful and welcoming. We also ate dinner at the restaurant which was great Italian food and very friendly. This place is really worth a stay.

The accomodation was great. The restaurant on the other hand was absolutely shocking!
A bad pub feed (that I couldnt finish) at 4 star prices.
I can not emphasise how bad our meals were. We left hungry.
Unfortunately there is not many options for a meal at Dorrigo, so in future we will be staying elsewhere. Its a shame as this is our 2nd stay here, and the food last visit was awesome.
Do yourself a favour and look some where else.

Worst motel we have stayed at. Service my room means a couple of towels thrown on your bed. No making of bed, cleaning of glasses used, wet bathmat not replaced, no cups only mugs, no makeup mirror, no sweetener, no champagne glasses, only cotton blankets in the middle of freezing cold winter. Don’t bother staying here if you want cosy and comfort. Noise is bad from next door. We really enjoyed the motel restaurant but it is owned separately.

I rang from Brisbane and advised we were going to be late due to a delayed doctor appointment. Was advised by Craig he would text details on how to access the safe where our key would be as the office closes at 6pm. I had to phone again at Bellingen and this time he did text the details. We arrived here around 9pm. The bed, a queen, is one of the worst beds I’ve slept in, to explain I have a small glut tear which is very painful and the drugs I’m on make me very wafty. About half way through the night I tried the single bed which was even worse. My husband, in the morning, stripped the bed, turned the mattress around and made the bed beautifully. It is now a little better! The bathroom does not have an extractor, no room spray, no shelving in the shower to place one’s items, a skylight that is mouldy & cobwebby and a toilet roll holder placed where you need to be a contortionist to retrieve some toilet paper (i.e. immediately behind to the left if sitting). We went for a walk this morning and found that the only thing going for this property is the view. We paid around $240 per night for 2 nights, fair enough it was school holidays and straight after ANZAC Day but this is a disappointment. Plus, the fridge has no shelves!

Craig and Gabrielle make you feel extremely welcome the rooms are very clean and plenty of space. Being pet friendly allows us to completely enjoy our trip with our dog. The views are awesome, the whole region is stunning, well worth a visit.

A group of members from the Copacabana Probus Club spent a fabulous time at the Mountain Lookout Retreat in March 2024.
This was made possible because of the hospitality showed by Craig the manager and his wife.plus the restaurant chef and their family.
Nothing was to much trouble from the welcome we received to the excellent dinners the chef prepared for us.
We stayed a total of 3 nights and found the Retreat was ideally located for us to explore “The Waterfall Way. Craig was very helpful in helping us plan our visit to ensure we gained the most out of our stay.
All the rooms at the Retreat had great views from the back overlooking the gardens ,deer enclosure and the mountains. Ideal for a relaxing time or enjoying a drink with friends.
If I could give a score greater than five I would.
We would definitely recommend to any group or family looking at exploring the Waterfall Way to contemplate staying at the Mountain Lookout Retreat.
Thanks Craig we will be back
