The gardens and grounds themselves alone are worthwhile visiting - more extensive than we expected, and really beautiful with such a variety of flowers. Some were still flowering in autumn, we imagine it will be even more beautiful in spring (especially the extensive rose gardens)! No parking or entrance fee to the gardens, only the house. We saw lots of picnics on the lawns/grounds.

Such a beautiful historic location to visit.
It's amazing to be able to walk through a home that's virtually unchanged from how it was originally. Not to mention how lovely the gardens are.
It's had some additions recently which are great but would have been cool if they'd kept more to the house's theme.

Absolutely stunning property with heaps of history. Definitely recommend visiting it. The volunteers are very welcoming and knowledgeable. We were lucky to come in right before the tour at 14.30 with Pamela and she was absolutely amazing with a lot of passion and knowledge for the place. We had a wonderful time there. Definitely would like to come back around Christmas time with all decorations out

One of the best attractions in the Adelaide if you don’t count wineries 😀.

The house is in a very good condition and is maintained well.

Authentic interior is the highlight of the visit, but the grounds are also beautiful.

Such a lovely place to spend the day. Beautiful garden with lots of spots for picnics. It took us around 20 min drive from the city. Toilets are available. Ample space for car parking.

This majestic home and its surrounding gardens were bequeathed to the state by the Hayward family in 1983.

Visitors are permitted to wander the expansive grounds, exploring the intriguing nooks and vast variety of flora. At the western end of the garden, there are structures constructed that are based on various fairy tales. This is a delightful area for children to wander safely and discover the displays around every corner.

For couples and families, there are a large number of places to have a relaxed picnic. Children are free to play in most areas.

The cafe/restaurant is a relatively new addition. It provides a variety of snacks, meals and drinks to those visitors who can afford the prices.

A 'must visit' place for kids of all ages.

1A wonderful place to visit! The house is beautiful, and the staff are incredibly welcoming, polite, and friendly. The surrounding area is also stunning, but I’d recommend visiting in winter or autumn rather than summer for the best experience.
