Jack Gray is tucked away in a residential area of the Sutherland Shire, that is characterised by large houses in a beautiful lush bush setting.

First impressions suggested a laid back atmosphere with sophisticated decor in muted tones.

We joined a long share table on the pavement outside. Ordering at the counter was trouble free and efficient.

We opted for Jack’s Gourmet Deli Style Bacon and Egg roll ($16), Spring Corn and Zucchini Fritters with Smoked Salmon ($26), an orange juice ($8) and a regular flat white coffee ($5).

The juice was as expected. The coffee was good ie, temperature hot, grounds not burnt or bitter, just the right amount of milk and rich caramel undertones.

The bacon and egg roll was acceptable. The eggs were creamy in texture, though I would have preferred more seasoning. I don’t recall cheese being a major part of the flavour combination, though I could see some gratings on the plate. The relish was sweet and tangy. If you like your bacon to be crispy I’d suggest asking for this up front.

The corn fritters were crisp on the outside, and the poached egg cooked to perfection with a gooey yolk. I think the fritters were spiced with cumin. This was an interesting pairing with delicate smoked salmon. If we were to order the dish again we would have opted for bacon, or no additions.

Overall a pleasant experience.

Nice restaurant and friendly staff. Had breakfast and the food was okay. The food portion was huge , but a bit pricy considering the food quality and available options.

What a great little hidden gem. Shared a late breakfast here with my wife today and the food was great. The service was friendly and professional.
We'll be back to try more of the menu soon.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had been excited to try this place for the past three years, so we had high expectation. Reading multiple 5 star reviews added to this expectation.

It was a massive anti-climax. It's probably the worst food we have had in the past two decades.
It's very unfortunate, because the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, as is the aesthetic.
We ordered from the lunch menu.

The prawn linguine was very bland and felt like it had been cooked by an amateur.
The linguine was rubbery. The flavour tasted basic, and I left half of it, even though I am still hungry.

The ancient grain salad was also very bland, and I'm not sure if there was any dressing at all. The chickpeas probably should have been roasted, and the ingredients didn't taste like they were cooked very well.

For a meal that cost $70, it felt it should have been more like a maximum of $20, for both of those meals. In fact, I feel unfortunately, that we could have made a better meal at home, and massively wasted our money.

We would not recommend this place for a good feed. There are much better options

I don’t usually leave reviews, but the food and coffee here certainly deserves one. My partner and I agreed that our coffee today was the best coffee we’ve ever had! The scrambled eggs and mushrooms are a must have. Will be recommending to everyone I know 🙏🏼

Our favourite brunch place in The Shire. We've been coming here for over a year now since we've discovered it, and I'm very happy to say that they've continuously maintained their high level of quality across their food, cleanliness, and service.
