Point, Grab, and Underwhelmed

Alfresco Café really took the “self-service” vibe to new heights—menus? Nah, just point at the counter and hope for the best. It’s like culinary roulette, but with fewer thrills.

I braved the bacon and egg roll, which arrived looking like it had been assembled by someone actively avoiding flavour. No butter, barely any fillings—just a dry roll and a dream. If you’re into minimalist breakfasts and guessing games, this might be your jam. Otherwise, there are better bets in Broken Hill

We received our two “full breakfast” with ice coffee and thick shake.

Drinks were really nice.

Bacon was very overcooked. And my partner ordered hers GF as she is intollerant.

Meal arrived and I questioned the bread. (Two bites in) and discovered the bread was infact not GF as requested for her.

Make sure you question if it doesn’t look right here.

This cafe has warm, tasty & delicious foods & drinks; one of the best breakfast in town loaded avo with bacon must try! flavourful steak sandwich, tasty pork belly with sweet & vinegar sauce, large portion of beef lasagna & veg, but a little cold. Delicious big brekky😋. Love the veg burger & chips so nice…, the lamb roast & veg is soo delicious. Great decafe latte & perfect caramel latte so smooth. Very good tropical prawn salad👌, very delicious warm apple pie with cream must try. Nice environment, comfortable sitting, friendly staff, and alright service, could be better. Thanks guys. Recommended here😁👍.

Great to get greeted and seated immediately. Easy to park around the street. Love they have table service. Good coffee and excellent food. We had the reg supreme pizza between us for late lunch … so much topping! Great that you can even get a meal at 3pm! Had great brekkie too - shared that!
Ambience is a little dated and dark but still comfortable

Broken Hill was hit by a massive dust storm, most places were closed. Cafe Alfresco was almost ready to close to but they happily made lunch for us. The staff were really friendly and helpful, even offering to make a half size nachos for our 9 year old. Meals were a good size and tasted fantastic. I would have loved to have desert, everything in the cabinet looked amazing, would happily recommend!

Negatives -
My sister ordered a double serve of Bacon with her eggs & got 2 very small pieces of Bacon.
The flies were terrible & constantly had to swipe them away the whole time we sat in the shop.
The egg & Bacon rolls you have to add the sauces yourself from the small takeaway satchets.
A bit of "overservice" from one of the waitresses who asked to take away a plate that someone was still eating from, maybe a bit more observation before attending to the table to clear plates 😊
Positives -
Very accommodating for adjusting meals to suit your prefernce.
Service was very friendly.
Shop looks very nice, except the big wooden receptacle at the front of the shop that seems to take up space that could fit more tables.
French toast was delicious 👌
