We booked at very short notice and arrived on Good Friday. The receptionist was run off her feet tending the bar, looking after the front desk and more. The restaurant was closed but they took room service orders. The chef deserves a medal! The meal was quite good and he had to cook it and deliver it to our room himself.||Otherwise, the Privilege room was large and well equipped. Nice outlook. Outdoor parking.||Accor status welcome drink policy is perfect. Breakfast was excellent and the chef came out regularly to top things up and offer to cook eggs to order. Great for a small dining room.||The dining room is fresh and airy with a nice view over the pool.||Avoid room 229 - it has the vent from the kitchen going through it which creates noise and kitchen smells.

Very easy to book and check in, reception was excellent. The room was VERY clean, particularly the bathroom, bed was comfortable, fridge was quiet and not much road noise was heard once it got dark. |About the only 'fault' was the surcharge at the end. Australia used to be known for having prices including GST and that was the final price, but not these days. |Overall, an excellent stay.

Updated review.*||Had Better Hopes for this Hotel||A nice hotel with some nice people, however had a terrible experience with one of the staff members on the last day regarding Breakfasts, they were definitely not nice nor understanding. Similar to the other review talking about rude behaviour from the supervisor during Breakfast for a platinum member, we faced the same from the hotel reception rudeness as a gold member.||They told us at Check-In that Breakfast was till 10am, and failed to tell us that on our second day it would finish earlier at 9.30am (Monday Public Holiday, Tuesday Normal Day), thereafter they blamed us for the miscommunication.

We had a birthday breakfast yesterday for my dear friend of 65 years.
I can’t thank Lily & Alex enough for their superb service. The food was, as ever, amazing & plentiful.
The atmosphere is great & I must say, for a beautiful breakfast, this is the best place to go.
Alex also especially asked how we would like our eggs cooked. Perfect!!!!
These two workers should be commended. We are coming back.

Hotel south of Newcastle but driving distance to beaches and walking distance to major shopping centre. Staff very helpful lent us umbrella as raining. Restaurant was great so impressed we had dinner there twice in 3 nights would definitely recommend

We like Newcastle for short relaxing getaways & have always stayed at |The Mercure, the rooms are 3+ & the beds & pillows are so comfortable & staff are fabulous, should we ever have a problem or issue, it is always rectified immediately, the food in the Madison restaurant is excellent and we were so looking forward to one of their amazing pizzas on our last visit but alas, due to their popularity, they had run out (devastated), however substitutions were lovely.|Thank you April.

Lovely place, Vanessa went out of her way to help. I stay at the Mercure near Central Sydney quite often, so was nice to be away from hustle and have the same atmosphere (if that makes sense). Breakfast by the pool!!
No microwave in room was a little disappointing but overall would stay again and highly recommend
