A 5 star facility with a 2 star service. Had to go to the bistro to ask for help to check in. Management very unfriendly-keys are in an envelope out the front of reception. Which is 300 metres away from the lodge! Included breakfast was of a standard several notches lower than the average roadhouse, at a cafe which also serviced the caravan park. The only option for lunch and dinner was their bistro. Meals were actually pretty good BUT…. they seemed to have ‘run out’ of a lot of things. In the Lodge, our check in instructions said if anything was needed, just call! But you needed to do this before 6pm. Very disappointing, as it wasn’t cheap!!

We stayed for one night in the lodge. The rooms were marvelous. Dad has limited mobility and the accessible room they gave us was perfect for him. We only interacted with the staff at the restaurant and café, and they were very friendly and the food was delicious. The lodge is a bit out of the way, but it was a perfect halfway point for us, between Hobart and Strahan. Thanks for the stay!!

The most amazing place to stay. Beautiful Lodge accommodation and amazing views. The breakfast was part of the price and was fantastic. Dinner at the Highlander Arms in the grounds was also lovely. Everything on the grounds is within walking distance. Wombats roaming around at night and also able to catch the Aurora Australia !! Would definitely stay again.

Booked in for one night. Lodge room was very comfortable except for very Poor TV reception. Confirmation email stated that on arrival, to ring the doorbell and a host would greet us at the door. No doorbell, no host. Keys were left in an envelope in a box outside reception about a 5 min walk from the lodge. No face to face contact. Breaksfast was not in the dining room overlooking the Nive Valley as advertised on their website. Instead we had to walk 5 mins from the lodge to a cafe near reception. However breaksfast was nice. Cliff top restaurant no longer operational and has not been for many months despite still being advertised as a dining option which has to be booked prior to arrival. Meal at the pub was ok. Certainly not great value for money and would not stay here again.

We stayed for two nights and the atmosphere was so relaxing, to being greeted at arrival and being offered drinks by the fire, to amazing three course dinners with guests at the lodge and cottages it was a great experience. The dinners are held as a group event around a shared table, it was great to talk to new people who were staying both at the Lodge and the Cottages. It made for a unique experience that you don't often get. Breakfast was included and it was more than enough to keep us fueled for the day of exploring. ||||The room itself was well maintained, clean and super comfortable. We were given a map of the area so we knew were all the walks were. They were all good, though some are better maintained than others, which is the only area for improvement we could find.||||We had the hot tub experience at sunset which was amazing. The facilities were really great and we really enjoyed the tub and our bottle of wine! ||||Would visit again.

I would not recommend this accommodation. We stayed in the lodge in February and there was just us and one other couple it was full of March flies everywhere inside. This is a very strange set up. We felt very isolated. We ate at the tavern and waited 1 and a half hour for a steak. There was only 14 people in the tavern.
The room was big and spacious but dated and certainly not worth $470 a night.

This must be one of the most remote and comfortable places to stay in Tasmania! It’s in the middle of the forest built for the people who built the Hydro Power Scheme. We drove from Hobart for about 3hrs, and were so pleased to find a comfortable warm well appointed cottage with an excellent restaurant and bar on site, amidst immaculate gardens. You couldn’t ask for more. But there is more! We were so surprised when we discovered (~15 minutes down the road) Greg Duncan’s ‘The Wall’ which is a sculptural masterpiece, as well as Lake Saint Clair, which has some stunning walks. Highly recommended.

I spent 2 nights in a Lakeside cabin and, in the freezing conditions in September 2021, I was very happy it had been heated before my arrival. The cabin was spacious, self-contained & had everything I needed to cater for my own meals. Although not always open, dinner was available at the restaurant on the first night, a lovely venue, especially with the open fire. The home style meal was huge with a great variety of vegetables & the 2 courses offered were reasonably priced. There’s plenty of stunning walks around the area and the site itself has an interesting history, would definitely recommend.
