Peppermint Ridge Retreat - Woodbridge, Tasmania

Cannot rate Peppermint Ridge highly enough, it's a gorgeous place to stay and the whole experience just felt so warm and inviting. I do wonder what it would be like to stay in on those rare hot Tassie summer days, but it was perfectly comfortable when we were there. Loved our two nights here and would definitely return next time we're down that way.

Extremely disappointed. A top 50 rated home in Tasmania is simply inaccurate! Our rating would not make it in the top 1000. Listed as luxury but is basic accommodation. A 30+ year old property that has not had much upgrading and upkeep. Very basic facilities including kitchen, DROP toilet, no wifi, NO air conditioning, only a fan and an electric bar heater. Phone coverage was poor. No cable TV, very small TV (there is not much to do at night!!). We didn't use the internal wood burning fire as we both suffer from hay fever. The house smelt of smoke when we arrived. Ordinary surroundings to the house, although the distant views to the ocean channel and the valley were pretty.

Other challenges when visiting include - local café and restaurant are closed from Sunday evening to Wednesday morning for the café and until Thursday morning for the restaurant.

Peppermint Ridge Retreat has the most beautiful views of anywhere we have stayed. It is also quiet and very relaxing, with friendly and thoughtful hosts. Well located to explore the food and wine south of Hobart, and only a few minutes from the Bruny Island ferry.
Warm and comfortable even in the middle of a Tasmanian winter! Would gladly return, and hope we do.

We managed to stay here finally on this trip back to Tasmania after COVID border restrictions were finally lifted. What a wonderful place to stay, we spent 2 nights here, although the weather was not in our favour, it was such a nice place. There are 2 eco studios onsite, double story (Mezzanine level) (2 bedrooms) spacious throughout, lovely fireplace to snuggle up in front of. Plenty of wildlife visits. Large great bathroom with a separate eco composting toilet, different but there is no odour. Washing machine and dryer located onsite. Amazing breakfast provisions provided. When its not foggy the view was amazing, great verandah to enjoy that glass of wine and the views.|Comfortable beds etc etc. Could not fault this place.|Amazing hosts are friendly and accommodating, we booked direct through Peppermint Ridge Retreat website.

Peppermint Ridge Retreat has the most beautiful views of any accommodation we've ever stayed in!|It is also peaceful and quiet, with thoughtful and friendly owners. Comfortable and warm even in the middle of a Tasmanian winter! Truly a place to relax and explore the surrounding food and wine, with Bruny Island ferry only a few minutes away. |The friendly chooks and turkeys regularly checked on our welfare and provided commentary on our bread scraps.

What a wonderful location with views of the ocean! To be welcomed with the smell of freshly baked bread was a winner. No stress in terms of basic supplies as breakfast was prepared ready for us to cook the following morning (bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomato). Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, juice and cereals were all available. Additional items were available for purchase, this included a selection of wines, chocolates, soft drinks. For those looking to relax with a movie, there were plenty of DVDs available to choose from. ||Check in was simple and easy. Direct contact with the owners was helpful as they provided local sites for us to check out.||Being from Darwin, we have found it rather cool in Tasmania, however, the fireplace ready to go upon our arrival was perfect. The house remained warm with little effort thanks to the hay bale design of the house.||We will certainly be back. An amazing stay, just not long enough.

This place has an amazing view, it has a cute design with a loft and high windows. The freshly made bread was a really sweet touch. ||||This property was advertised as four star, and honestly it was lacking in a few things to justify this star rating and the price. ||||We stayed in winter, despite our arrival time being made clear there was no attempt to heat the space. We were freezing. It took some time to light the fire and be warm enough. The window in the downstairs bedroom had been left open and there was a large gap between the doors to the balcony which we shoved a towel in to stop the cold draft. ||||There was no fan in the bathroom, which after a nice hot shower meant we set the smoke alarm off when we opened the door. ||||The decor is lacking, there were some obvious Kmart furnishings which I have no issue with. But they didn't match the nice natural wooden look of the space. The blanket provided on the couch smelt musty which was a let down. ||||To be honest I was devastated, the space is advertised as being something truly special. In a sense it is with the view, but some improvements need to be made to match the price of over $200 per night.

We visited during a recent trip to Tasmania on reading previous reviews and were not disappointed! Comfortable, spacious, the building is unique and stunning floor to ceiling windows to gaze out over Bruny Island. Loved the personal touches - a larder with purchasable groceries and wine to cook up a storm, the book swap basket, a very comfortable bed in the brilliant loft area! Thanks so much to our host Mel! Will be back!
