What a difference new owners make.
Good portion sizes, fresh seafood, well cooked and a decent crumb / batter at a reasonable price.

With plenty of space outside of the cafe to sit on the grass and just enjoy the river, or make your way down to the children's playground (100 meters away) if you have little ones, the Boat House Cafe in summer is easy to recommend.

There is space inside or on the upper deck of the cafe if you'd prefer, but we love to throw out a blanket and sit on the grass with the baby or friends and enjoy the river.

Casual fish & chip diner on the river. The battered/fried fish is recommended, as the grilled options are not their specialty. Would definitely recommend this place for a quickly and satisfying food stop along the way. Good for groups and families as well.

This review is purely because we had heard great things about the resuraunt and it wasn't open any of the three times we came. We had already looked at Google for opening hours. Seriously when are you actually open? What kind of restaurant isn't open at lunch time. Business 101. 🙁

After the new owner , amazing fish n chips, specially local scallop, all the fried things just mouth watering.
U MUST BE COME TO HERE, eating on the Huon river!!!!

Nice spot for a coffee and snack right over the lovely Huon River. Unfortunately the young girl behind the counter clearly just didn't want to be there and made us feel like we didn't either. Wouldn't take anyone there again.

Came here on a recommendation but didn't quite live up to it. Both Google and a sign outside says open at 11.30 but didn't open until 12. We thought they weren't going to open and kids were super disappointed but luckily we hung around and they did open eventually.
