Had a meal in cafe. Waited over half an hour for meal to arrive but when I did ask about it we were given a free drink. Hubby said steak was very nice however slaw was dry - needed dressing. I had Roast of the day - chicken - which was very average. If I have a roast I expect roast potatoes. We won’t be going back in a hurry.

This about the Sunday lunch offered in the Shoreline cafe Sunday 3rd May 2025:

We live in Howrah and regularly visit the Shoreline hotel for lunch or dinner.

Today we had lunch in the cafe section and the TV specials screen advertised roast lamb as one of the specials for the day. My husband duly ordered this and it was not a truthful representation of what it was.

It was clearly two slices of meat - presumably from a previous leg of roast lamb - but it had been reheated and pan fried, with the obvious brown pan marks on both sides, rendering it overdone and dry.

My husband pointed this out and was assured several times that it was roast lamb. We’re both excellent cooks and it is both insulting and frustrating to be lied to. It *might* have been roast lamb the first time around, but the second time around it was a slice of meat that had been pan fried. We have the capacity to tell the difference.

He arranged for a replacement meal as no refund had been offered. We would rather that the kitchen and staff said that the lamb had run out than try to fry an older piece of lamb and pretend it was acceptable. It was advertised on your screen as one of the specials of the day. Most people know what a fresh slice of roast lamb looks like.

Perhaps you think you can get away with this because there’s not many dining out options available in this area and you are correct on the latter. However don’t misrepresent your meals to customers. We are regulars; are willing to pay well for our meals but do not tolerate being robbed off or assumed to be stupid.

Please do better.

Booked in for Mothers day 11/05/2025. From the initial booking process to being welcomed and shown to our table, the food, service and staff were all top notch and management should be proud to have such a diverse team. Well done everyone, fully recommend

Fantastic room very comfortable bed. We ate in the Dining Room pate was beautiful but beef ribs no ribs bones meat sliced very chewy and broccoli not cooked, polenta chips only warm and not crunchy on the outside. Brûlée top was slightly burnt and totally covered in cream. Definitely stay there again just will not eat in dining room

Was at the restaurant for a friends birthday recently, the service was pretty poor, food was just put on the tables regardless of who ordered it, we had to sort it out ourselves. The meals overall were poor quality. My lamb shank dish was so tough and tasteless. What was supposed to be a Crème Brûlée was a mash of so many flavours a simple and classic dessert was lost in it all. This will be my first and last visit. Fortunately, the children's meals, albeit dumped on the wrong table with no care given, were good.

5 stars. A superb meal. Highly recommended. We have been here b4 and the service and the food is outstanding. We recently celebrated a big birthday here and it was so good - we can back for dnr. We had the rib eye fillet and greens and mash, plus we shared the croquet balls. Beautifully cooked and absolutely yummy. Zali - was our waitress and she was awesome. Service was quick, professional and absolutely delightful. Very comfortable seating. Thank you.

My friends and I have been coming to the Quizmeisters trivia on Monday nights and we have won a few prizes! The staff have been very helpful when we’ve wanted to use our winning vouchers and we enjoy the night very much. We’ve gone from maybe visiting the Shoreline once a year to going almost every week, so that must say something! The pepperoni pizza is really good too

We have older family members staying with you at the moment and the service and care has been exceptional. They love their room, the easy access to transport and essentials and the genuine care and concern they showed my Father in law when he needed assistance was wonderful. Thank you.
